See ya Northfield! Yonkers next 🤣🤣🤣 look it up happened, this morning🤣🤣🤣
-
I hearsinging in the back hallway. So much for thriving.

Harness racing has done absolutely nothing of significance to help itself despite being thrown the lifeline of the century.
Painting a rotting porch only delays its collapse. Fix that shit and stop trying to pretend it is OK.
Northfield, letting Danny Noble race, is just another in a very long list of why Northfield and their racing management are a direct link to the impending failure.
-
Decoupling next. Welfare tracks gonna get what they deserve. Purses will rightfully plummet.
-
maybe they can all meet in the paddock before the races and cry to amy hollar.

Will harness racing still be held there under the new owners? I've read the press releases online and see no mention of guarantees for horse folk.

Do you really think letting Danny Noble race at Northfield the casino gives two fucks? Yes the race is from the last week at Sciota was a bit suspicious however there’s no positive test so in my eyes, innocent until proven guilty.

That thinking will get your money run over, but hey its your money.

If it looks like a duck. Quacks like a duck. What is it?
If a horse paces in 52 every week. Then the week he doesn't have detention. And paces in 47. Is that a coincidence? Times 4?

Horse had high quality oats that week.

New owners can do whatever they want with the place the horsemen have no say
-
The racing doesn't cost MGM anything anyway. The purses come from the VLT revenue which never goes thru MGM's hands anyway. Handle covers the expenses to host racing.
Btw I'm referring to Nfld...Yonkers is a different story...

Don’t be a dummy. Ohio will be the LAST state to decouple. No racing No slots so I doubt they paid over a half a billion for piece of land in ‘Ohio.

There are 64 county fairs in Ohio that conduct harness racing...it's not going anywhere.
-
The private equity that bought it are a major investor in the Meadowlands and own Delaware Park. Racing isn’t going away!

Of course I don't think a casino gives two fucks, but if you really think what a casino wants has any bearing on what is good for harness racing, well, we don't see things in any remotely similar manner.
Harness racing does not have the luxury of any appearance of impropriety. The fan base is dwindling, and they should be doing everything they can to win them back. If a few horsemen have to be sacrificed, so be it. At least tell the public they matter. Which, I can tell, is not a very popular opinion with a certain group of people.

The stupidity of some of these post is unreal. So MGM sold just like Hard Rock sold to MGM. It has no affect on the law that has 9% of the slot revenue going to horse racing. People think since MGM sold that means no racing anymore.
-
they have 9% for now.

Please close Saratoga and Vernon

Clairvest is a PE firm. They have less interest in horse racing than a casino company has-----unless it's profitable, and I think we all know the answer to that. Just like any PE firm, they look at bottom line, maximize profits, eliminate costs, spit, polish, and shine, and then exit strategy. If it's not profitable, has no opportunity for growth, they will get rid of it. If they determine they want out of racing, and they can get out of it, they will.
-
It just amazes me that everyone with an interest in this thing would rather say, the law says this, we deserve that, and all the other status quo arguments.
Guess what? Laws are broken every day with profit in mind. And Blockbuster isn't around anymore.
Why not try to figure out how to make things better, and focus on the ones that will actually save you...those not currently involved. Those have proved quite feckless.
-
I agree

Clairvest purchased the facility. 165 million to be invested in both race track and casino. Racing isn’t going anywhere in Cleveland
