Title: Tony Morgan - top overall harness horseman for decades!
Post by: hasbeen on September 21, 2025, 07:29:43 PM
Not the same factor he was in Illinois or when he relocated to DE, but I was watching him dominate at Maywood, Balmoral, Sportsmans, and Hawthorne (as,well as Springfield and DuQuoin) since the early 1990s.
Driver, trainer, knew a ton about the daily care of a horse from blacksmithing to nutrition.

I had my favorite drivers and trainers during those years but Tony really was the best of the best.  tmbz1

Morgan certainly dominated the Chicago circuit for years before he moved to Delaware. He saw the writing on the wall in Illinois that their program was going into the shitter. He had Jim Scholz listed as trainer in Chicago. Not sure if that was just on paper or what?

I heard he's a terrible poker player, and will stiff horses to pay his debts.

Penelope Morgan was who he listed in the later years there.
