In life, it's not what you know, it's who you know.

Take it from someone who lives in Maine.....the racing here is pathetic.....at best. Just Bangor and fair racing. They keep on talking about a "spanking new track" here in southern Maine. Yeah.....sure.... .LOL!

The roaches and mice need a home too; the patrons could fit into a closet.

yes my home state of maine the racing is heading to the grave.
cumberland grandstand is close to being condemed.
first tracks in 2020 says we are builing a new track cumberland is 1 year, no conditions.
first tracks now opened a sports gambling bar but wont build a new track unless they get other gambling to go along.
bangor race dept does good job compaired to rest of state but doesnt promote racing. just kept for the casiono license.
fairs well a lot of fun with food. dont be to hard on the race sec. its very hard to fill races at fairs. bo was welcome to fill races. what is disapointing is mutual dept, or lack of. only time i use a live teller is to cash out.  i use the self terminals which barely work. try to cash out after the last race and the few tellers are closed before the race is official. admission at fairs along with food are a big turn off to anyone just going to the track.
thru out state more consistaint judging would be nice.
track conditions could be a lot better. cumberland is usually good but fairgrounds need a week before they are half good but then the meets over.
wish we had a shot to survive but not looking to well.
congrads to ks2 on a great week at windsor and a great summer. glad to see him doing so well.

Southern Maine property values have increased to the point where it's not feasible

Dougie, it's amazing how much the Southern Maine real estate prices have gone up incidentally, along with the taxes.

If I remember right the Horsemen should've never got against Scarborough Downs because of their disdain for the owner. The Horsemen bit off their noses to spite their face now look....

I believe the MHHA had something to do with the Scarborough closing

Scarborough was a PRIME location. When it closed, the growth of our harness racing in Maine came to a big STOP. Too bad the people who are involved in the talk of building a new track couldn't have worked out a deal to buy the Downs. Sure, it would need a lot of updates, but you couldn't have found a better spot. What a shame.

downs was the perfect location, would have made it big if the casino/racino bill had passed in scarborough back 20 years ago. would have beat nh,mass,vt to having slots.
downs had way too much baggage though. in the end the money was needed to pay for sharon terry's care. the crew that bought it had too much pull in town anyway. now its really a massive housing project built cheeply sold over priced and in years will be a giant sec 8 villiage of welfare.

southern maine now very expensive and filled with out of state people who came for the maine life and now want to turn it into massachusetts again.

decent weekend at bangor. farmington opens this sunday. so some sunshine ahead in the maine race world.
