Title: SPA Day XXIX, Sunday, 8/17/25
Post by: Trigger on August 17, 2025, 12:18:18 AM
SPA weather today is in the mid 80's, high humidity and thus with a real feel adding 10 degrees to that and will feel like mid 90's.  Hot and no breeze, stay inside with a cold one, or two or...FAST & FIRM expected, however a storm could happen with these conditions so proceed knowing that.

I'll hit one at the SPA, the 8th race turf sprint stakes.

Additionally a one mile dirt stakes in Monmouth's 5th,

and a turf sprint stakes in Woodbine's 7th,

and a one mile turf in Del Mar's 7th, a Maiden SP Weight in Ellis Park's 9th and lastly a stakes in Tioga's 7th race.  6 races for moi.  Budget @ 3c's.
(-$2285.17 for this week)

Here is my schedule (below) and when selections are added wagers will be in, and will be posted before the races.  Good Luck!   ;D

Monmouth (246pm) 5 -
Tioga (300pm) 7 -
Woodbine (420pm) 8 -
Ellis (432pm) 9 -
SPA (512pm) 8 -
Del Mar (803pm) 7 -

Big scratch of #3 in the 3rd race.. my first two pick 5's were centered around him. Back to the drawing board... but it ought to be a good day. Handicapping while hungover worked last Sunday,  hopeful it will again today

OMG, did it fucking ever work!   ngc3

Ya know, last night seeing you and the misses wave was one of my Plop greatest moments.

I hope y'all come to my neck of the palm tree filled woods, South Florida coast, sometime in the near future.  No work, just racing and relaxing and play.  No live harness racing anymo but a short 30 minute dash to GP from me! ;D

If that is a plop greatest moment then this site is in much worse shape then I thought. I was wondering what part of the country ya lived. No the wife and I don't do Florida. We've gone on  a few trips a year for all 23 years of our marriage, but never down there. In a few weeks my favorite 2 weeks of the year are here. Week 1 on the beach at Cape Hatteras, NC. Week 2 is LBJ week, where I get a vacation from my vacation..Includi ng weekends 17 days of no work. It works out well, no betting in NC, so I build my bankroll for the LBJ. Thanks for the invite though  tmbz1

2 pick 5's to start. Skipping Gulfstream for now.. didn't care for the opening sequence at all, so switching to Ellis Park. Both of these tickets have a single in leg 1 so I might be put out of my misery very quickly.

Ellis Park
2/All/3/All/All
$126 beans

Spa early pick 5
7/All/5/All/All
$108 bucks

I quadruple checked and today these are typed in correctly
Good luck to "all"!! Pun intended  ;D

Why thank you, a stretch for moi lately but I'd be thrilled with 50% fer sur, and you all bring all your p5s home - winners - and so far so good as both you and Bello are off to a great start!  tmbz1

I re-tabulated my win / losses for the last 3 weeks.  The 3rd back is still good, the last 2 not which includes this one, but bad but not as bad.

From this point on I'll just call a playing day a win, loss or draw.  However I need to wait til last race Sunday to add up all the deposits and rebate deposits and bonus deposits / against / withdrawals and cash in account.  The numbers for the last 2 weeks is off by a grand, what happens when you bet off same day winnings when ya have, though lately they're hard to come by!   ngc3

Money in & money out / left in the account, that I have not computed correctly and it's all that matters.

Exactly.. you can't post a ticket and not play it.. he plays a lot of chalk, not that there is anything wrong with that. He is on a limited budget and tries to get them by death by paper cut. He is an excellent handicapper.

Bello is a seasoned gambler, whether he got closed out or intentionally missed the play, even if it paid a couple hundred, not going to send him to regretville.  Putting the tix numbers in wrong is unacceptable and gets to me, I'm a stickler usually for double-checking.

But I see his logic, the thrill of not betting and saving your money after a valiant handicapping session on a very tough long wager.  Like a split personality thing rooting against yourself.

You can remove it.  Just decide between the one that says FUCK or FUCKING  ngc3

No one was pushing there horse and FG starts pushing around the turn and making no progress, falls back a bit from the turn, but like all of a sudden that horse responded, then the 2 coming and rejected yeh that was a great race!   ;D

5/All/All/All/6

She actually has a legitimate shot this race.. she has won with this horse at the same distance. Ricardo has had a great meet and with Victor training ya never know Great story on the dq.. usually it goes the other way

She tried, horse looked good, needs a smarter, better jockey with confidence.  That's an Irad type horse, someone is the dominator there at least.

An upgrade for sure in payouts, and not lowest, very well done JT, I'm very proud of you bro - you're hot as the SUN!  ;D

Like Franco lately, I've hit my share with him but been on the wrong side of a ride by many more, Geroux the same but he woke that 3 up and kept him alert and fast, that's a good example of a jock ride for Go Irish.

Yeah I thought Irad was going to get there so I am happy about that. The 4 ran a big race. Coming around the turn I thought he would go by Kendrick, but he came up empty. Both tickets had huge potential.. but it's still great.
Those 2 tickets:
$234 wagered $1553 won = $1,319 profit tmbz1
Pulling for a 1,2,5, or 6 for the final ticket in leg 4

Wonderful, that NC trip's getting covered with profit!  ngc3

It's also great you don't get all hysterical emotional either way.  That balance is important to get back into the flow of studying.

These coolers (losing streak, cold streak) like mine happen, 13 days is a long long time lol, I usually don't count them, but hopefully will soon pass or I have to regroup my whole strategy possibly delete my virtual stable's and start fresh there too. Definitely cutting the budget to $200 for the whole week next, win or lose today to tighten up.

The cooler will pass soon then it's all systems go. I went through a nasty one last month and lost alot. Sure the bigger will pays would have been great, but no point in getting upset about it.  Its always a good idea to review ones "systems " winning or losing thus my daily autopsy

10 is full sibling to a stakes winner, the breeder decided to keep this one for themself, they chose the wrong jockey, not going to win by lost 2nd by not that much.

Madden Oaks won at Tioga 7th, was my on top horse but didn't have time to study race, was 1-1, Meadowlands Pace winner, but longshots behind him and nice prices.

I might of threw 25-50 on Madden but nowadays I'd rather wp on horses that pay, not 1-1, more for the exotics have no idea if I would of won.

Irad deserves to have his face smashed into a million pieces, maybe he would of lost a little closer but feigning the whip, is a real cunt move when you lose.
