TY. I hadn't seen the news as of yet. Disappointing.

Maybe I am suffering the Mandela effect but I thought Gural specifically mentioned the two path being watered heavily (his voice trailed off), making it seem that Ake wanted the footing good on the outside for his horse and the ones on the rail don't benefit.

You are remembering correctly. Lots and lots of people in the industry talking about this.
Gural using his employee here in Derrick Giwner to try to put out the fire. I dont think it will work.
Check out race 3. Same situation. Same path. No shoes. Same trainer. Form reversal. Horse kept coming through stretch after looking even.

So because of the deep wet track two horses broke down. That’s why most trainers don’t want the track wet and deep.

Sarah said horse wasn't right week before Hambo but was sound to race wasn't he.  Wonder how many times the shock machine was used on that leg that week?

Holy cow first Gural running her mouth about the track not Sarah about the horse not being normal before the race what a mess

Won the Hanbo and crippled the horse.  Good job to all involved.  What a bunch of crooked assholes all the way around.  Make the sports most prestigious race a clown show not being able to shut the fuck up!   tmbz1

Every time a horse steps onto the track, there is risk. If only 100% sound horses raced, the box would never fill.

I get that.  What I don’t get is her saying the horse wasn’t right but we brought him anyway.  Just a bad look for the sport.  Why even announce that?  You would never hear a top t-bred trainer say something that stupid.

Horse hasn’t been right but he drop 1-2 seconds from his previous starts when he won the elim.

Put together the optics just look terrible

Ake must have some good type of painkiller. Horses aren’t sore before a torn suspensory. They either have it or not.

All horses have problems. You obviously have never owned one or you would realize how stupids are your comments

You are so right! I owned four at Pompano Park in the 80's. Our vet bills were more than the monthlys. Yikes!

Yea and when you do own a horse like that you don't race them with torn suspensory in the biggest race knowing there all out.  AND IF you were dumb enough to do it you don't tell everyone the horse was off week before and you raced anyway.  That just screams you did something to cover it up.  Horrible look

Im thinking ole Achey is wishing he would have just stayed home on Hambo day. This just keeps getting worse. There's no way for them to spin this either.

Exactly my point!  Don't broadcast it like a moron.  I know most horses have issues.  But you don't tell everyone you knew there was a problem after he breaks down.  Definitely looks like they did something to dull his pain for the big dayl

Bottom line, bad optics or not, that track should be watered more than it is. If it's better for the horses then that's the way it should be. All the time and be consistent especially in the summer when it's like concrete.

Comme-ci, comme-ca.  I was once told by who what I considered was a very wise horseman that a hard track is better for horses with soft tissue issues & a soft track is better for horses with feet or joint issues.

Totally agree about hard and deep tracks, the track surface shouldn't be hard or deep. Fast track shouldn't mean Rt 9. Water, before it's dryer than the Sahara.
