Title: State Fair Memories
Post by: Meadow Ford on August 10, 2025, 09:27:38 PM
A few decades ago I was the co-owner, breeder, trainer, and driver of the best two year old pacing filly in IL.
At Springfield we drew the outside and we get away near the back.
Coming off the last turn the field is tightly bunched with me on the far outside and still 7th or 8th.
I can see every filly in the race.
I can see there is not a live one in the group.
We have the long Springfield stretch to go, but I know already that I am the winner!
I wanted that feeling to last forever!
Thats my cotton candy and cream puff memory.
What is yours?

Decades ago I would take a bicycle to Springfield, if i was going to stay a few days. Mainly to ride to the otherside for breakfast.
So Donny and Marie Osmond were the night time grandstand show.
So I wait till their show has started, and then I ride the bike on the track near the hub rail, and stop aways from the stage.
During each song i would sneak a little closer. By the last song I had the best seat on the grounds.
Great Times!
