agreed
you could see they both shied  away at the same time from horse passing them
too many horses in a small space
really have to be paying attention

Was that the warmup for the Mr. Magoo stakes?

I'm not sure they shied away from anything, as much as they were headed for each other and both turned in the same direction into each other.
What's the track protocol?   I would think if you are going counter clockwise, you should move to the inside.

Update I got on the horses from groom on the track was left front on that horse no good. Didn't specify which but was impaled by bike shaft tore through chest. The video is clear as day imo. The horses suffer because of it.

First 5 secs of vid, post parade race 3, you see Clements 4 "fly up' past Mckenzie's #3.
Very few options after that cutting down towards rail but oncoming horse (warmup for race coming later or was it race 3 #1 that had turned back) was straight ahead.

Hate to see a 13 yr old like Read the Proposal, in a jamup like this.

Dan Clements missed remainder of drives

Tragic..sad but true outcome

There are, of course, exceptions,  but all of us in the business are taught early on that if you're going clockwise you stay up. Counterclockwise you stay low.

I feel terrible for that poor horse that was injured.

in the old days all horses would score in one direction, and then turn and then all would score in the other direction, to avoid nonsense like this. Now they just fo whatever the hell they want, half of them dont even line up for the post parade anymore.
