Expect chalk to reign in the Hambo elims but think you could see a few bombs in the Oaks -especially if the front end isn’t holding up
-
Zeron and Toscano have to be frustrated with the second oaks elim. R Lady W gets what they think it the idea 2nd over behind Ake’s 1/2 who ends up spinning its wheels. Still closes from out of the crowds with a massive last quarter. Think she is the winner if pulled closer to 3/4s.
That filly has a massive kick and will knock a big one off before the year is done.

Dexter has a decision to make
<aryland will be miuch better next week but Super Chapter has been winning like a machine. Those 2 should run 1 -2
-
Super Chapter will be odds on next week
he will get post 1 through 6
-
Would be nice for Maryland to get a trip other than 1st up. Also interesting who Melander calls to drive him. Zeron is usually second call but I don’t think he jumps off Maximus Mearas. I thought that colt was second best to Maryland by end of year. Got a late start but looked to take a pretty big step forward
By my count Melander with 4 and Ake with 2

Also interesting who Melander calls to drive him.
1st: Mr Jen Bongiorno out of retirement for a spin around the oval
2nd: Mattias
3rd: Anthony Macdonald

Barn had been pretty bad all night and this horse front ends them in 50 and drops his personal best by 2+ seconds. Breeding is interesting (Six Pack over a SBSW) but Ake has the goods when he wants it.
Deepest Hambo I can remember with a lot of class. Very few absolute throw aways. Hell Meshugga is last one in - he gets home in 26 and might be the winner if he doesn’t get the Big M shuffle

Yes it is always a fun year when there's a wide open field and frankly, it's that way in the Oaks too. Will be there Saturday and really looking forward to it.
-
I don't bet elims anymore, so this isn't sour grapes; but Ake's drive on Lady Landia was pathetic. He never put her in play or gave her any sort of chance to advance to the final. Put up a catch driver dummy!

Super Chapter will be 3/5 or less
is that considered wide open?

Maybe but if he is there will be tons of very attractive options on the board. Also if Dex drives him like he is 3/5 I think he gets beat - just too much depth and quality in the division. I can’t imagine there will be a half in 56.2 to be had, especially after Ake’s went down the road in 50 with a 26 kicker

I just rewatched all 3 elims and no doubt Super Chapter is the horse to beat, but the only horse that I think has a shot is Maryland depending on pp and who gets the drive. We all no Dexter is the best in the world now, but sometimes a new set of hands can lead to a little improvement. Furthermore he didn't have the greatest trip, leaving a little and then first over. I think with a little more urging he wins that elim, but I understand why Dexter didn't do that.
-
If Maryland gets a decent post and can work out a one-move trip, he can definitely win. That was a tough trip last not. Was used hard and then again to go first up, only to close in 26 flat while just getting beat? But will that take a toll for next week? Time will tell. I think Super Chapter will be around even money at post time.

Given that was the second start of the year for her, I am not so sure it was the drive that was the problem. She didn't look comfortable at all.

Just because he is 3/5 doesn't mean he is a lock. I think there are a number who can win (or lose) depending on the trip.

Fractions don’t always matter but they absolutely will on Saturday. Dex does not leave - he likes to either power move at the 3/8ths or go first up - which is how you would drive a 3/5 shot. That being said we have seen in big races lately that the 2 wide starts immediately making the power move risky. The only ‘soft’ quarter available will be the 2nd and if you’re trying to make the lead before the half I don’t think that breather will be there. Too much speed to chase and why Ake’s drive this week is relevant. A half in 54 or 55 - which means a 3/4s in 122 or 123 in play - puts the backfield on notice. This field has at least 3 (Maryland, Go Dog Go, Maximus Mearas) that have dropped last quarters in 26 flat. That is why the fractions matter here - there is too much depth. Someone will get a 2nd or 3rd over that can sprint home enough to win

I'll put my money where my mouth is.
600 beans at least, 200wp, and any other exotic, connecting wager.
What's wrong with y'all at least Call Sign Merlin mentioned him!
From the bunch that said Prince Hal Hanover could never leave - he's out of his tree, Burke is going to sweep the ADIOS, which dingbats actually made Baeza 3-1 ngc3
Meshuggah, double digit odds for sure - yum yum gimmie some! 150 sub mile!
I ain't debating or discussing any further, just taking some of your money on Hambo day if you bet against him! See ya then! ;D

Maximus Mearas S has a better shot to win next week. And should be big money Scottie Z's choice.

I had that 47 exacta yesterday, tri, was easy and MMS, was off that layoff and with long ass strides. I love MMS too, who is going to be on Meshuggah?

totally agree and never said he was a "lock"
but the original comment was .."the race is wide open"
when a horse will be 3/5 or less..that is not wide open
the original comment could have said.." I feel several have a good shot", but it didnt
wide open races don't have 3/5 shots
carry on, sorry to correct

As I said earlier, post draw will mean alot.. anybody have any ideas who might drive Maryland?

I agree with what I bolded
SC is not a lock--but to the eyeball it sure appears he hasn't "spent a nickel" as the Aussies say...DD was looking around but no one could trot and make him work hard
sure this Saturday will be tougher--and there is a chance SC draws the horrible dreaded post #1--that would handicap him and make for a more competitive race--ideally for DD they draw the #5 or #6
the wildcard is Ake with Nordic Catcher
always respect Ake on the big day

Hanover Shoe Farms already acquired a piece of Super Chapter, by the way. I don't recall seeing that in the press anywhere and looks like it was pretty recent.

Would not be surprised if that big colt takes it all, either.
