Title: The SPA Friday 7/11/25 Day Deux!
Post by: Trigger on July 10, 2025, 11:29:49 PM
With all the hoopla and my email going bonkers with alerts for all the big harness races in East Rutherford, NJ, and so may other horses in other places...I really only want to be here.

Again, slowing down, trying to put the effort on the best of what the SPA is offering.  Only one race for me there Friday, the ungraded stakes turf sprint, Race 7.

The ml odds maker is craaaaazy off again, I love it, let's get to it!

If the weather forecast is correct, another beautiful day there, Fast dirt / Firm turf.  Good Luck!

Race 7 (435pm)

(8, 9 10 are MTO and will be scratched if they race on the turf)

Selections:  7654 (321 for like 4th place only in a sup) like that.  I mean if ya wanna go nuts on the 1 & 3 I think ya need to prepare yourself for disappointment.

7 - My form, Brisnet, doesn't mention this horse got slightly pin-balled coming out of the gate in her last race.  This jockey Toledo who won the last, actually 2/2 with her is at Colonial, and has rides with the same trainer there too.  Any one remember seeing very slow times at Laurel for turf sprints?  I do.  This last was really nice.  This horse changed leads in the stretch and found another 2 gears.  Jumped on the Saratoga grounds and worked out on the turf, 4f in 45 3/5, was 1/66 - I think this horse is ready to go nuts lol.

6 - This horse won the G3 Matron turf sprint from the 10 hole, then gets the 10 hole in a 1 mile turf bc g1, then off layoff on a gd turf course looks very nice, last race didn't have it and Dettorri didn't push, very kind of him, laid off  again and I think very ready!  Oh, and 1/1 at the SPA!

5 -  Win and place in ungraded stakes races on the turf at longer.  If the horse is on the pace in those, I think JV tries to blow them out here.

4 -  When this filly didn't have it the last race after a light whip urging, Lanerie put on a very good whip feigning for several seconds with this horse going backwards.  Now laid off and fresh, and 3 races back showing wanted more distance on the w2w winner Cloe the # 3 filly here and came from way way back.  Here's the rematch and I like this 12-1 ml shot and 1/1 at the SPA to beat the #3 filly who is 5/2 ml at least!

3 - This 5/2 ml LOL Horse's best win was a 1/2 furlong less and now add 4lbs.  Let them bet the shit out of her, she's a looker, a runner, whatever, but this is a bigger league.  Going to pass and only use for 4th.

2 - Oh another $600k horse from Canada that hasn't proved out and with a 6% trainer her career, has no experience in a sprint turf, watched her Natalma G1 race on the turf, couldn't even muster speed like these on a straightaway and went to sleep before the turn.  Would be a big surprise if she showed up 4th, anything worse not a surprise either.  Trainer change warranted.

1 - Had lasix in big win in last, now no lasix like 2 back.  This 2-1 ml LOL LOL looks like a party girl, no sauce will go mediocre and was 4th to Cloe the #3 here two back again going to sleep in a 1/2 furlong shorter race.

________

Harrah's 1st race (1225pm) bonus race, as I'm following Meshuggah the #1, nice small field for this 3 yo c/g trotting stakes.  Meshuggah looked like a monster last race in that stretch not getting urged by Zeron and he had horse. Hoping to hit some straight numbers here, possibly win and exacta too if he is not bet down too hard.

Selections 15 42 3

I'm at 764 in the 7th race now with the #5 scratched.

Andy Serling and Jonathon Kintchen the Official SPA TV handicappers today just love the 1 & 3, 3 & 1 in that race.

Race 1....In honor of my late father in law  dd  4-4.  When I went with him to the track,  as soon as we walked in he would go to the window and bet his automatic 4-4 Double.

As a footnote, my poor wife had a degenerate horseplaying father and then married a degenerate horseplayer of a husband. Poor girl.

Race 1
#4 Solo Empire.  Dirtied up by Rudy last 3, 2 on turf and the third over his head. Back to level of claim and Plat up

#4 win  DD  4-4  p3 4/4/346  p5  4/4/346/9/15

That story about your father bello is unreal. When my wife and I started dating and got engaged we would drive to Wheeling WVa and visit her grandmother. While we were there we would go to the dog track which is still there and she would play the 4-4 daily double every time.

Hilarious. Maybe we should do an ancestry.com to see if they are long lost relatives.

No lol  ngc3 and I wouldn't sound like him even if I was being choked, had a bad cold, you squeezed my nose closed when the gate opened.

I never consciously wanted to or tried to call a race.

Once, when Jazil won the Belmont Stakes I wrote down exactly what would happen, call by call including him winning and the the finishing time down to the 1/5th second, and nailed it.  I also stand by the statement the track was GOOD during that race not FAST.

Bruce Levine gets this loser horse to race giant race 1.

I'm still getting skunked in this new meet. Belmont at Saratoga was all speed and I took advantage of that. Track has changed a bit. Rail may no longer be the place to be.

Race 2
#4 Simply seems to have a class edge on these. Raced well lone try at the Spa.

Bonus race 1 Monmouth

#3 Diamondinthesand. I really like this one. Big middle move last at Big A. Nice tightener as she ships to Monmouth to face restricted NJ breds

Maury Povich's horse takes race 2. I could have sworn he was as dead as I am with my selections

Nice catch seeing that.

Was his first time listed as a horse owner.

He's 1/1.

I believe so. He has a horse called MOPO which may ship in. Also first Saratoga win for CE Lopez who is pretty good.

Okay  I used to make a 2 weekend excursion to the Spa which I stopped doing 5 years ago due to a fluke injury making flying somewaht difficult.

My wife knew how badly I sucked at the Spa and basically empty my bank account so I couldn't use the machine of death. THE ATM. Now I am emptying out my ADW account, but bet peanuts there. These days I only send it in at the Meadows.

Lets take a stab at the following horizontals.

DD  346/9   P3  346/9/15    p5   346/9/15/35/13

Late Daily DD   Cold Punch   Thirteen/Fourteen

Zayde duties. Need to go.   Good Luck...And lay off me selections if you know what is good for you!

I'll take my lumps for the 7th race today, because I feel partially vindicated in my handicapping and those 2 fake ass favs exposed.

I should of been suspicious of the price on the #2, $31.20, when in fact she should of been twice that or more in that field, even with 6 horses.

The 1 & 3, yeh, ok!   ngc3

Finish was 2 4 6 3 and big payouts.

My selections finished 2nd 3rd and 5th.  The 7 did disappoint, blew her load in her workout as she shipped in well! Even a 4th for the #7 I would of got paid with sup x with all, but nope.  The 4 (14-1) beat the 3 (2-1), another good suspicion :).

This is going to be a great season at the SPA, I'm really feeling it.

Down 4 1/2 beans for the week.

Tomorrow!   ;D

Amen to that.

Very healthy payouts for a 6 horse field too, and the super with the 3 on the dime, nuts.  It also makes proportional type small field payout situations in harness racing look ridiculous i.e. Mohawk, Yonkers:

$1 EXACTA              2/4    $180.75
$0.50 TRIFECTA    2/4/6    $334.75
$0.10 SUPERFECTA    2/4/6/3    $210.20
