Landy and partner wanted to guarantee racing just for 5 years and also wanted to build types of homes the Boro wants no part of. They will only accept 55 and over to avoid children because their schools are already way over  crowded from immigrants.

Best bet right now is rumor it's a car consortium. So many dealers need space to store cars. Many were doing that already at track.

One thing is for certain, the deal closes on Tuesday.

Eugene Landy final offer was 2 years limited racing and would cut back his trailer park from 550 units to 425 units . Freehold boro said no . Penn found another buyer non horse racing company. Looks like Mack -cali guess they won’t have to worry about school kids .

YR did that sort of thing before MGM. They rented a multi tier indoor parking garage on the property to car dealers in the area.

Mack -Cali builds warehouses and office space . No car lots .

The Exporter.....The loss of Pompano Park was a horrible blow to harness racing. I realized that casinos don't give a crap about harness racing. That prime real estate is all that matters to them. So sad.

Mack Cali is no longer, they are now Veris. They have shifted from office/commercial to multifamily residential, and sold their last commercial building just last year. They are a major, big time player. Mack and Calli merged way back in 1997 in what was the largest REIT transaction ever. Their investors made a fortune! If Veris is buying, there will be residential housing there ASAP.

Whoever buys and develops that land will make a mint. Some homes in the area are going for over 1 million. Even condos and mcmansions are high priced and sell quickly.

On the site of the old Brandywine Raceway there are a bunch of stores anchored by Target, and houses, most going for well over a million and they don't even look that great to me because I'm not into that style of home. All the way in the back, on the other side of the lake there are still remnants of the stable area.

If you knew anything about harness racing you wouldn't question Mark Ford's great horsemanship....

The sale is indeed occurring but closing push back a few days on some technical stuff. It's most definitely not for horse racing.

I'm told there are only two people left there now. The GM and the Plant Supervisor. There was track equipment being removed and the place is now completely sealed. Some last minute legal stuff pushed the closing back a few days.
The buyer has agreed to build a playground at the north end of the parking lot across from the main entrance. We believe it has something to do with cars but no one is saying more than a deal is done.

freehold closed for racing last December

why are some of you perpetuating stories about continued racing there?

I don't get it--its been over for 6 months

It's a closing. What does it matter? Racing there was and is long gone.

It's official. Besides my impeccable source, I also confirmed it with a local government official.

Public announcement this week.

It's related to automobiles.

Whatever impossible dream anyone had of ever seeing racing again, it will only be with four tires and a steering wheel now.

Cars? Any of them for sale? Just curious, why does anyone care about the sale of this place? Is there some fantasy that it might reopen and have racing? That ship is so far sailed that it can't be seen from the coast. Sad, but reality.

Looking for whatever comes next I guess ? Turn it to soybeans or corn

again nobody cares

nobody gives a shit if it remains a storage lot for car dealerships, becomes a cornfield, or housing is developed

racing is finished there-why is anyone still keeping the dream alive?

The Landy pipedream never had any chance. This is a dead topic
