Title: Jeff Gregory-
Post by: rainman2 on May 19, 2025, 05:51:29 PM
For quite a while, he was only driving trotters.

Recently, a few drives behind pacers.

Do drivers prefer driving trotters over pacers as they get older?

The keggling is getting worse as I get older. Another part of growing old.

Just making observations on what I see.

If people respond they respond, if they don’t they don’t.

FYI, many others here start completely stupid/dumb threads also. It is what it is.

The Answer to your question is yes. As they get older they may slow down and prefer trotters due to they tend to be safer with alot less accidents.

Jeff drove pacers for me 25 years ago! He was always driving pacers and trotters, and always one of the top drivers in the NYSS.

Ask him. He's one of the good guys. I don't think he's revitalizing his career as a catch driver.

Not sure if Jeff is driving his own, getting them ready, etc., or he's picked up a few catch drives. Since his major accident/injury, and has he's gotten older (he's knocking on the door of 60 now, LOL), he was focusing more on training. Back in the day, when he was a catch driver, he won some big races. People may not remember Jeff picked up the drive on Chapter Seven and won the Breeders Crown with him as a 3yo for Linda Toscano. He was Chapter Seven's regular driver the year before as well.

Regardless, one of the most underrated horsemen in the sport, and truly a top notch good guy. Always a gentleman and a class act.

I think you will see him drive his own trotters and a few others in the NYSS.
Will be very selective on pacers ..  He is a class act as is his Dad.

They should have kept Jeff as the everyday driver of Chapter Seven--he might have won his Hambletonian...bu t Mike Lachance gave him a shit drive--i think he was last at the half

when I followed freehold everyday about 15-20 years ago--i loved betting Jeff when he was catch driving--never turned in a really bad drive-always had his horses in the right position
