The owners tell the stewards and racing board what to do they are nothing but puppets. You can get 10 positives steal the publics money and be back in less then a week. The funniest positive was here in Illinois when that trainer Farmer got a high blood gas positive after a win. He swore up and down that he didn't do it and the racing board let him go. A few weeks later he wins again and get another milkshake positive and then they did something. You could shoot someone have the body in front of you and the gun in your hand and they would come up with a reason to not convict you if they need you to race. Harness racing will pretty much be gone within 10 years. Its a dead game laddies! Fact!!

The sport is already dead. It is no longer harness racing, it is now welfare racing.

I was referring to the "gone in 10 years" claim that I've heard for 35 years! ngc3

I think a few more tracks will close in the next 5 years, the bigger question is, will the Meadowlands be one of them?

How healthy is Mr. Gural? There's your answer.

Does Gural want to be remembered as the one who pulled the plug on racing at The Meadowlands?

Actually, he saved it when the Governor of NJ pulled the plug. Again, you guys really do need to get the story right. How he handled it since is his choice. Whether we agree or not doesn't matter. Had he not stepped in it would have been a parking lot LONG ago.

I know he saved The Meadowlands, but don't think he also wants to be remembered as the one who decided to close the track, so with his health, I think he'll continue to suffer the losses for at least a few more years.

He didn't close the track. It was actually closed once by Christie. Thus the delay with the reopening under Gural. He will be remembered as the guy who tried, Jesus Christ himself couldn't make that track float.

I think you misunderstood me. I know he wasn't the one who closed the track, but if he does decide to close it in the future some people may consider him a villain. Yes, he tried but was his real motivation to save the track or get a casino and make millions. He had to know the track itself wasn't a profitable venture.

He didn't really understand the power and politics of AC, I guess.
