Either the timer is off or track is short.
-
They have a new paddock
-
The track is short , I know 2 guys that measured it , it's true
-
The track may be SHORTER but I sure wish their prices were LONGER
if you aint in the 'backstretch know' youve got no profit chance
-
The ‘new’ Northfield south???

Most of the "backstretch know" loses their shirts!

$7500 claimer 1:49.4 today 4th. Seems to support the claim. 11YR old new lifetime mark.
Three seconds faster than he was going at Miami.
-
That's bullshit 149.4

They are all fake. The first half’s in particular are dubious, this one was 54.3. They need to measure the track and where the pylons are.

Race 3 tonight - FM NW 1 Trot - winner from the Annette Lorentzon barn. Mile in 55 with a back half in 56 home in 28.4. Interesting because 7 days ago at Oak Grove beaten favorite in the same class, timed in 200.1. Drop 5 seconds in a week going from a 7/8 to a 5/8 track.

Scioto is faster than Miami Valley, but not by that much.
-
Oak Grove is a 5/8 Merlin.
-
My mistake - rest of it stands
-
Wind the clock back over the years-which 5/8 track was the fastest?
The Meadows
Pocono
Pompano
If I missed a 5/8 track or 2, please let me know.
-
Scioto, Raceway Park, Hazel, Windsor, Rideau Carlton, Greenwood
-
Harrahs Philly and Dover.
Think Philly, Dover, Pocono and Scioto are the fastest currently. Raceway and Hazel always felt 2-3 seconds slower than Scioto. Meadows can be hit or miss but they don’t ever seem to go the fractions of the first 4
-
Forgot Rosecroft and they have to be in discussion for fastest.

Did raceway park ever have fast horses race there?
When the hazel park horses got to pompano, they got at least 1 second faster
FYI, they shipped in in October/November.

Lots of good Ohio Sire Stakes horses graced the Toledo oval including the immortal Buck I St Pat.

Loved watching her race! tmbz1

Just to test my memory, was it Dan Burks that raced that horse?
-
I think it was Ron Burke and I think Timmy drove her most of the time.
-
Thx. That was 2011 .Yes Tetrick. The horse I was thinking about was like 30 yrs ago. The name sounded like that.
Pacer. I guess my memory isn't good enough. ;D

My guess is you are thinking of KF St. Patrick driven by Russell Swartz.
-
Thx. I was even thinking of KF Pro Sam.. Can't get away from Dan Burns being involved.
Kind of a one hit wonder for him, if indeed his name is right. Thx for trying.
-
KF Pro Sam finished 5th in the final of the Little Brown Jug in 2000.

I think you can't simply compare the times, at least not in absolute terms. Too many other variables. Weather being one. Even in a constant, summer, look at Pompano. They didn't get that track really souped up very often. People weren't looking for TR's, except in the BC, maybe the Matron. Greenwood closed in 1993. Pre-a lot! LOL. Scioto today is much, much faster than it's ever been. Ask someone who has raced over all of them, or at least the ones that are currently racing.

More often than not, there were always fast miles at pompano because of the warm weather. Could have had faster miles if Bruce and Wally weren’t going 28/58 or 27/57 to the quarter and half every race!
-
I know they redid the track at Scioto a couple years ago, but the times there this year do seem a little to fast. It's definitely one of the fastest 5/8 in the country at the proper distance, with the fastest being Pocono. On US trotting looking at the fastest 5/8 track records, the majority are at Pocono, although that track seemed faster when they raced at night. Now I think it's just one night a week there.
-
Forgot Rosecroft and they have to be in discussion for fastest.
FYI, from what the locals say at Rosecroft, it's the configuration of the track that leads to super-fast opening quarters and fast miles!
-
Wacko times this week for 15-20 claimers:
Pocono Tuesday- 2 divisions go in 153:1
Meadows today goes in 153:0
Oh, I left out that these were trotters.
-
The fake times roll on.
Race 1 Scioto Seaside Escape in NW6 CDCL 49.2 and 52.4 to the half. The first half’s are beyond fake.
-
the 7 ran off the screen in the 9th race tonight.....feet never hit the ground
good thing H Taylor's horses aren't full of EPO any more
