Title: Borgata
Post by: Bitter Truth on May 08, 2025, 09:30:34 PM
Hope I'm not interrupting by actually talking about horses racing. Friday night.
Should be a good one. I like Mossdale Ben + Verdun. tmbz1

Love Verdun from the rail.  Can’t imagine him going off that high.

The rail is a tricky post for him because he needs to be aggressive leaving but not to the extent of trying to park the field which is a sure way to lose. With alot of speed on the outside, one or two of those horses will probably be parked the mile. If he can sit 2nd or 3rd and is able to shake loose, I think he has a good shot of winning, even though I don't think he's the best horse in the race. As far as his price, a few horses figure to be lower than him even with the rail.

It will be a good race seeing as the best horses drew outside. I will watch but not wager because I just can't bring myself to ever bet Yonkers. If I had to bet I would take..
5: Mossdale Ben
8: Coaches Corner
1 Verdun
3 Foronceinmylife

What is there, like one race book left in AC? At the Borgata.

Yes, but it is a good race book unlike some of the others they used to have in Atlantic City that were the size of a closet.

It was better when it was the Levy final. The horses seemed better back then. I get that they run just as fast now but it does not seem the same as when Matts Scooter lost to Jaguar Spur in it because they saddled Matts with the 10 or 11 hole and had to start in the 2nd tier. Then some trainer named Robinson ruined it by entering about 12 horses and it lost its luster.

Borgata has the worse racebook, only 4 or 5 TV's. Take the hour ride to PARX.

I thought so. Last time I was there it was fairly crowded. The manager said she lost some of her major players, but she still has a decent, core group. Just smaller, LOL. I recognized one guy, a t-bred player from NY who used to be part of Ernie Dahlman's crew. I asked what he was doing there.....and he said he was there for a poker tournament, LOL.

Several online casino and sportsbooks have closed the sportsbook part in the past couple of years. Guess there are too many now.

I expect a small delay before the 7th race as they will have to clean up the backside where Charlie May just puked. ;D

In all fairness to the horse that was a piss poor drive hung to the quarter in 26.1. Look at the drivers in that race..Brennan ,Dunn, Gingras,  Bartlett, Kakaley, Zeron... and then there is Cushing lol. Talk about one of these things doesn't look like the others. That horse likes coming off the pace but Cushing drove him like a dumbass, gutting him the first quarter.

Agreed. Had the three hole. Could have gotten at least a check. Still another testament
to his standing when in against open/ffa types.

$500,000 race and you have that guy do the race call?  How does he have a job as a race caller? It's almost like you have to listen, just like watching a train wreck. Anyway, congrats to Mossdale Ben  ;D

That Chase H Hanover can leave with the best of 'em on all size tracks. Looked like he might last
at 3/4. That Mossdale Ben is a closin' fool. Nice try at working out a trip by LaChance but got stuck
first up. Raced big.

500k race no excitement from the race caller, all the cooperation suits in the winners circle (they probably owned the winner) Joe Frasure very happy with the outcome

Ernie Dahlman, ! I've been away for quite some time, however, wasn't he The Hickory Way Stable with George Regan. Claimed the Great Frank T. Ace belonging to  Cruise  and won the giant twin double at yonkers. If I'm totally wrong, it's because I'm old and senile and therefore not willing to accept criticism.

unless you are in the business or have some sort of interest  nobody is watching.  they didnt show it on sportscenter or fox sports.  no one cares cause the marketing of harness racing is shit. and they dont help themselves with what goes on.

No, you are not wrong. Ernie raced as Hickory Way when he was with Buddy Regan.
