Congratulations great horse!
What great TV coverage! Hamiltonian Society are you paying attention?
-
Got $1 on tri, bet #18 / 2,7,8,9,14,17,21 and same for 3rd and those 7 horses on top with #18 for 2nd with those 7 horses for 3rd. Cost me $82. First time ever hitting the derby trifecta.
-
What do you expect the Hambletonian Society to do? Meadowlands is lucky to have 20,000 on track for the Hambo these days. The Kentucky Derby is an event like no other.
-
I would think the budgets are way, way different. Derby telecast spares no expense. The Hambletonian is lucky to get on TV. The crew does a good job in my opinion. It is unfair to compare them.
-
Sure is , think they said 117,000 people there.

Alexander Hamiltonian?

A veteran horseman told me that the Society's objective was to get paid. There are many in it that do little & earn a good salary. I'm not sure what their purpose is. When the sport was flourishing it could be absorbed. If the fees ( near a million) for the Breeders Crown are true they are draining the sport.

I wasn't aware that wow!

the hambo should be raced at the red mile in state were the governor supports the industry, nothing against the big m but Kentucky is pro horse racing

Amazing!! I couldn't stop watching the broadcast it was so well done.

The amount of money Churchill Downs makes on Derby Day is unbelievable. For starters, General Admission is $160, then whatever it costs to park, concessions, private suites and boxes, dining rooms, etc.

Are you kidding me $160 for general admission!!
-
On Stubhub the cheapest one was $120 but when you add it their many fees it's closer to $160, and the better seats cost alot more than that. There are so many different prices, but it seems like the infield may be the cheapest. I was there in 2022 and it cost me $130 for General Admission. I would never go there again because it takes forever to get in and out of the track and don't even try going to the bathroom.

I had no idea it was that expensive! They always seem to pack them in.

It's just too much of a hassle getting there and moving around, never mind what things cost. People go there as much to party as for the race.

JOHN FRANK ARMY gonna be POLITE here.
It be 40 years ago, when he started playin the ponies. At the time,he was a RUNNER,running in ROAD RACES and doin quite well. His best distance was approximattly 10 miles. He ran a lot of different distances and raced from MARCH - till end of NOVEMBER every weekend. e be quite good at his age division. And don't forget: JOHN FRANK ARMY wrote his THESIS on ROAD RACING. He knew everythin.
So many years befoe. FRIENDS of JOHN FRANK took him to racetrack. ARLINGTON. Then to AURORA DOWNS. Ok.
Then years later,JOHN FRANK ARMY became interested in horse racin. And that be TB'S. Read every book book I could on subject. Taught meself,on how to play the game. Stopped runnin and went to track and OTB every day. That be a mistake. Runnin should have been my main objective. But in LIFE one makes major decions and life moves on. Don't stall in one thin as life moves on. And there I be 40 years ago and decided if not fatal to learn everythin about horse racin. And I have to tell you all: Over thee years at TRACK and TRACKSIDE met 20,000 people who became me best friends. Knew everyone and everyone knew me NAME. People from out of STATE and COUNTRY who came to ARLINGTON for first time, would ask MANAGEMENT,Do you know where I can ind JOHN FRANK. And they were told: Yeah. Head to APRON by Finish line outside bar and just say: Is JOHN FRANK here.
Gettin back to SUBJECT. KENTUCKY DERBY. Fell assleep and missed yesterday. Did not miss much. Maybe 6 times in me experiences decided to stay home instead of attendin at ARLINGTON. Watched the SHOW on TV. They were great. ENTERTAININ. I can't member te guy from CAROL BURNETT show that was so entertainin. KLUGMAN another degenerate gambler, and MICKEY ROONEY. These people were entertainin. Te SHOW had LIFE.
I fell asleep because the fuckin crap they show today is totally borin. I forgot a great one. Can't member the RAPPER from years ago tat owned horse in DERBY. He's up in secluded section were one must weara TUX and the fuc is bear chested. Reminds one of "LET IT RIDE".
Today's version is one of te most BORIN SHIT on TV. Peoples who no nuttin of horseracin can't possiply become interested with this BORIN DRAG. Non'STOP just commentin on TRAINERS or HORSES tey no nuttin about.
I'LL add one last thin: I'm comin to a end and so be HORSE RACIN. I'm happy I was a part of it in it's heyday. But it's OVER and thats due to that SHITHOLE ,CHURCHILL DOWNS and their CEO,KARDASHIAN.

Great day of racing. What, somewhere around $250 million bet? Very exciting race. I really loved seeing where the top 3 came from, and from all the different camera angles. Made for an exciting last half of the race. Slop and all, from what I see, figured, heard, etc., the top 3 were 3 that were supposed to be there at the wire. Sorry to see that Japanese horse wasn't a factor. I've met Mott a few times. Seems like a class act and a good guy. Happy for him. Great to win the Derby and cross the finish line first!!! LOL.

see these are policies we should adopt in our business then the judges would have to do some work! I know we have an excessive use of the whip but they should be allowed only so many strikes.

NOTHING LIKE THE DERBY...and if youve never seen this before, enjoy a flashback to the GREATEST Derby tv moment in 2005, TVG analyst Ken Rudolph correctly predicts 50-1 Giacomo and Mike Smith will win.

He didn't even know where his horse was in the stretch, either Matt or Simon mentioned it to him unless he was playing dumb and knew all along.

I don't know the rules/regulations in the t-breds, but perhaps he can appeal because if you watch, it appears, at least from a certain angle(s), that he didn't hit the horse and was only waving the crop. Not sure, but if that's what happened, it could be grounds for an appeal. $31k is a costly one extra time, LOL. Someone said 4 to 9 would be something like $500 or 20%, and the horse could get disqualified from purse earnings. Imagine that! LOL.
