Why do some tracks, like Pocono, have this 6 day entry box? Your horses races Monday afternoon, and you have to enter back the next morning, as an example. Sometimes problems don’t show up overnight. 3 to 4 days should be the norm in my opinion. Any reason why this varies so much?

I would have to believe it is an administrative savings in labor.

Because they are trying to beat out the other tracks racing for entries

That makes more sense. tmbz1

Race Secretaries use to be at the track when the horses race so they could watch the races and better classify them. Now many have the draw the days they are racing so they don’t have to come in to the track on off days and.. some do it all from home. Years back a good race secretary wrote conditions the horses available fit . Now they use the same conditions for years. Only things that change on a condition sheet is the date. For years the job a race secretary was doing was measured by the % of favorites winning. That was 30 to 33%, now many tracks are near 50%.

I hate the 6 day box especially on a one i just claimed. You don't even get to see what you think before you have to drop em back in

One of mine was claimed yesterday (Monday) at Pocono, and entered already at Chester for Friday.
