When a horse is pacing in first place at the half and leading by a length and then finishes dead last 44 lengths behind, what would be some of the possible problems with the horse? It did not break, did not show any broken equipment, and did not pull up.

I'm thinking bled, will scope sick or choked.
-
tied up ..bled,,,flat tire on bike anyone's guess this info should be passed on to the patrons horse should go vets list and re-qualify.
-
It’s a breathing issue or a-fib. Both will make one stop like they were hit with a hammer!
-
Thanks. Very informative.

Or judging by the barn, too many hot lunches takes a big toll on the long run! tmbz1

This reminds me of Funtime Bayama at Big M last year, around the time the scandal broke, horse was doing great in the race and then slowed and faded suddenly. So I have my theory on what happened.
-
A-fib would be my guess. Especially in a hot barn you would have to assume
-
That barn has become one of remarkable success. They are also in the claiming game at Yonkers. Honest trainers can't play the claiming at that cesspool.

Definitely a f ib

The record for horses either not finishing or dropping on cross ties at YR is Banca. Not even close.
