There's a new article on Harness Racing Update that says, beginning with their Championship Meet on May 2nd, Meadowlands will be suspending the drag. Gural goes into the thought process behind it.

they will continue to drag--but it wont be as bad
Gulfstream did this 5 years ago--then they went back to long drag

If the bettors know they're going to start at post time, they'll adjust accordingly and wager earlier. I don't care how long the drag is, a person is still going to bet the same amount of money, not more.
