Haven/t heard anything. $750,000 purchase. Was the horse returned and the money given back? Any lawsuits?

Sylvain knows exactly what happened--thats why he retired

Well maybe retired. But he has filed an appeal with the Horse Racing Appeal Panel.
Filion, Sylvain Equine Drug or Medication - Trainer

The Harris clan got "Hall of Famed" on that one...

does anyone have a guess on what the horse is worth now?
-
i heard harris has kept the horse and some money was refunded
-
Syl thrived driving loaded Moreau horses for many years. Good riddance to both of them.

Zero. How much would you pay for him? The horse completely imploded in that race. Nobody knows how the horse came out of that race, his condition moving forward, etc. Off that last race you might have to be concerned that he'd never race again. Them keeping the horse might have been the path of least resistance to get back something. That as opposed to litigation to void the sale. What do you pay for the horse, 50k? 100? Complete gamble.

That guy has the cash to eat the horse if they can't get him back to racing. He came off suspension on 12/24/24. I would hope by now they would have an idea what the horse is they've had him for 6 months

I think we all would be sick if we realized how many horses in this country and Canada were on EPO. Here in Ohio it’s as easy buying food from the grocery store to get ahold of
If it's so easy to obtain and use, how come nobody is 'caught' using it??

Because the time frame to catch it is very small. Won't show up race day.
-
Any updates. He qualified with added Lasix in February and hasn't been entered since.

Getting suspended 10 years and fined $40,000.00 is not really retirement.

You'd have a hard time convincing me that Coleman/Harris have never used or are still epogen or one of its derivatives on their horses themselves.
-
strangely enough filion is now asking for a stay on his suspension so he can come back and drive
seems odd because he "retired" so he could slow down and go back to quebec and spend more time with family
of course we know this was just before the news came out on funtime bayama
hopefully the agco holds firm
if and when he is ever proven innocent than he can choose to come back and drive if he wants , until then no way
really what he is saying but not saying is moreau is the criminal who drugged the horse, of course filion was the main driver for moreau for many years
-
And still no appearance by Justin Fillion in front of the AGCO.
It is no secret that those brothers were training and treating Funtime Bayama every week.
-
If Moreau was the trainer of record he is responsible for the results of tests.
What are the Fillions being accused of?

You wouldn't think they would be that dumb at that level to risk everything. But then again this is harness racing....

Coleman walks away from training....but is still very much in the the game. I don't believe she walked away by choice. Whatever Casie used was strong. The horses couldn't function without it.
It is a sad game & I believe most of the top trainers are using some sort of EPO.

To protect the wellbeing and safety of horses and safeguard the integrity of horse racing, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has issued monetary penalties and suspensions to Standardbred trainer, Richard Moreau, and driver, Sylvain Filion. Both are found to have violated the AGCO’s Rules of Standardbred Racing.
The AGCO received a Certificate of Analysis confirming the presence of the non-therapeutic drug darbepoetin alfa (DPO) for the horse Funtime Bayama, collected on June 10, 2024, as part of its Out of Competition Testing Program. DPO is a non-therapeutic, performance-enhancing prohibited substance that adversely affects racehorses and the integrity of racing.
For these violations, Moreau has been suspended for 10 years, inclusive from July 23, 2024, to July 23, 2034. Filion has been suspended for 10 years, inclusive from Oct. 31, 2024, to Oct. 31, 2034. Both licensees have also been issued a monetary penalty of $40,000.
The Rulings follow the immediate suspension of Moreau on July 24, 2024. As a result of an inspection into the circumstances surrounding the positive test, Filion is found to also have been acting as a trainer of the horse. Both Filion and Moreau are held responsible for the presence of DPO in Funtime Bayama.
Any horses owned by Moreau and/or Filion are ineligible to be entered to race during the 10-year suspension period, in accordance with Standardbred Rule 6.13.01. Horses trained by Moreau and/or Filion are also ineligible to race but may be released or sold to another trainer, if approved by AGCO Race Officials, in accordance with Standardbred Rule 26.08 and Directive No. 2-2008.
A licensed horse racing participant issued a ruling under the Rules of Racing has the right to appeal the AGCO’s action to the Horse Racing Appeal Panel (HRAP) which is an independent adjudicative body mandated to hear appeals of decisions.

How many other horses did this guy destroy?

You would have to check all the horses owned by Bayama farms I imagine.

I don't know what happened after that qualifier, how the horse came out of it, or what.....and I wouldn't ask! His last race was scary. When I see something like that, I immediately get concerned. Just innate. Anyway, I hope the horse is fine, maybe he just got sick, something minor. I hope it's nothing at all. But to not come back and qualify again, I couldn't help think that maybe the horse imploded again after the qualifier.
As far as Sylvain, the way I see it-----dad sends the horse to Moreau. For Sylvain to go out there and train the horse, be involved in the training, whatever-----is a foolish move. Aside from how it played out, independent of the outcome, I say it's a foolish move. The one race I happen to see live, Yves was in the winners circle, in his colors. I missed the horse going his last trip, but I am guessing since Yves was in his colors, he went the last trip. Not that it matters, but still foolish for Sylvain to play that role.

Sylvain was training the horse. Rich’s let him use his name as trainer. Both got popped as should be. Newly retired Laroche testified that SF always goes to the farms and trains horses he is driving. I can tell you I spent 15 summers in Ontario. Including 2 in a barn next to Laroche and never once saw SF on the track. Oh and his wife also testified to say how good a guy he is. Lmaof

The fact that the horse has not been entered since his last qualifier tells you he has issues—probably big ones.
