Race 10 has been at 0 MTP for 10 minutes. They just put a delay message on screen. No announcements. Bad business. Let us know what is going on. They yak-yak-yak for five minutes before the post parade and after the horses are introduced, but now nothing.
-
They never did explain what caused the delay.
-
Race 9: #7 Treacherous Tom, finished 5th, was vanned off the track after the race.
-
Thanks. I guess they can't pass that along to the betting public.
-
these idiots don't pass anything along to the betting public
any suspensions or fines are never mentioned
remember when benny b came back from about a 6 month suspension and rozma welcomed him back like he had been on a 2 week vacation

Such terrible customer service but that is so prevalent in this industry, from all sectors of it. It's crazy how much people don't care and how little it would take.
Its like the time my buddies took us to a place they called The Glory Hole. I didn't know where we were going...all of a sudden everyone disappeared, I had no idea what was going on. Luckily for the great customer service suddenly gave me something to kill the time.
-
Like the M, they just continue to deceive their customers like usual.
"Early Post Time" is the bullshit we all expected.
Even with no competing tracks on Monday, Mohawk managed to start 15 minutes late. Guess this is to.ake.sure all the CAW money gets in.
-
Mohawk is is pretty well under government control.
Maybe political appointees trying to run the place and
have no idea what the betting public would like.
Like a lot less drag, better classifying, apply the rules as written
ban the cheaters and drug users etc, etc, etc.
Things never seem to change at Mohawk.
With changes they could be one of the best harness tracks
in North America.
Sad this will never happen.
-
not just the politicians also nepotism at its highest form
they are clueless
-
On average there are five horses a week being sold on Ongait, 90% leaving for the US never to return. Another 5-10 are just being sent down to somewhere in the states. They are in absolute free fall up there, only a few horses going up for a late closer or a Pollack horse going to Menary. The will be done to three days a week before long as nobody seems to notice or care enough to do something. Mohawk used to be a great place to race and send horses and handle was always decent.

valid agent q
most trainers owners in survival mode just trying to make a living
the savior is that the oss program is decent( not great), if you have a gold horse great but grassroots 90% of them break even or lose money but it does continue to supply racing stock
the best bred yearlings are sold in harrisburg to canadian owners( go figure??)
the average at this years london sales was $28 k, enough said

The AGCO is the government body for horse racing in Ontario.
The poorly run WEG is managed by idiots...and their offspring.

A friend told me his trainer confided in him that 75% of his owners are months behind in their bills and the vets are complaining to him about unpaid bills as well. He also mentioned that many other trainers are relaying identical stories, some even talking about getting the horses signed over to them and selling them to recoup the thousands they are owe.

Harness racing ??????
Needs a monstrous shake up.
Or maybe not enough interest to bother.
-
Can't blame any horse owner in selling their horse down the states, the exchange rate is almost 50% right now. It will only get worse, lots getting out.
-
valid points fellas
realistically if you have an Ontario bred that you bred and race you can stay in Ontario and do okay
any decent horses either need to race in the USA or be sold in the USA , the economics dictate that
i imagine you will really see that in a few months when some of the other USA tracks open and people are looking for horses
but it will put a strain on the horse population in Ontario especially outside of the sire stakes

Whenever there's been an arbitrage, people always took advantage of it. Frank Conlin, one of the biggest buyers/sellers of all time, made a great living when the arbitrage existed. People always overstate and overreact when it comes to impact on the market. Everybody thought Brooks getting out would crush the market. It wasn't even a fart in the wind. Show me an alleged "down" or "bear" market for racehorses---and then look at the premier sales/auctions. I think you will see two very different things.
The market is not the horse population. It's horses that are for sale, and a horse is worth what someone is willing to pay. You have the right product, a quality product, you will have no problem selling it, at the right price---which is what someone is willing to pay. Always buyers for good horses.
