Wow. That is the first time I am hearing The Queen Bea was clean. Both literally and figuratively.

Wow. That is the first time I am hearing The Queen Bea was clean. Both literally and figuratively.
My father recounted tales of Queen Bea, describing her management of an operation that would likely have drawn the ire of PETA. The horses were never blanketed, even in the biting cold of a barn stripped of windows and Chicago's winters are brutal. Yet this did not seem to concern Bea. She trained them on frozen tracks and then immediately turned them out into paddocks, where clouds of steam would rise from their bodies. She pushed them to their limits jogging them on a treadmill until they were exhausted. No harnesses were ever cleaned-- everything was simply tossed into a trailer in disarray before she departed. They only encountered a brush upon the track, where the  dirt was brushed off to fit the harnesses.

Her horses achieved victory in various competitions astonishing everyone and she was able to drive them as skillfully as any man. She showed no restraint using the whip—contemporary judges would likely have levied fines against her. The manner which she and her remarkable success on the track -led to skepticism among detractors, and even among neutral observers, regarding whether her horses were "chem induced." However, my  father heard from several workers employed that those had never been subjected to needles or tubes during their time on the property, receiving only hay and feed, she did not skimp on this.. Her methods contradicted everything one might read in "Care and Training of the Trotter."

And a Cobalt positive--for which he got a slap on the wrist--and in NY they just issued a veteran -a 10 year suspension for Cobalt-and he had a spotless record--a perfect example of how Law Enforcement is applied in Harness racing.

Ben Hur.
Sorry--Ben Hur lived in a time where horses were given all manner of Performance enhancers--like wine and opiates."materia medica" they called it. I dont believe any horse that would have been in a competition event --would have passed todays testing.

Ok I'll ask.

Many young females lead the horses out..many are daughters, girlfriends, best friends...not all but many.
They work VERY hard.

The question: How many of these young innocents ARE PRIVY to loading up their best equine friend or overhear of it or are knowledgable of it as they get their cut of a board hit' or win?

Therefore....is any horseman or horsewoman old or young capable to be in the dark about horse 'medical adjustments'?

Would ANY groom or asst trainer BLOW THE WHISTLE for the welfare of their animal?

If the answer is;  shhhhhh it's always been like this, then Asst trainer or groom or stable friends should be suspended too from the grounds while their big daddy or mama trainer gets cuffed.

And how about drivers who are fully knowledgable too...where is there suspension for allowing the steed in their on track care to perform with &$#@ in their system.

Hell no - You think sarah is gonna rat ake?  you think nancy will rat her father?  If your a groom and you rat your trainer is done and so are you.  who is gonna hire you after your known rat.  You might as well call it a career.  You think julie will rat on andy or vice versa?   Casie got out and has surrendered all her trainers licenses so not she untouchable.  Very few rats in the game and most are known.

Howard and Doug Ackerman were good friends for years.  I first met Doug in California (Del Mar) where he trained down his young well bred stock.  I remember when Doug hooked up two trotters Noble Hustle and Noble Traveler in a tandem bike for a time trial at Del Mar.  I can still picture Doug coming down the lane out of the fog with fists full of lines ... I will never forget that.  Doug was blessed with the best possible owner under the sun.  The man had great sense of humor and didn't have pretentious prima donna bone in his body.  A young upstart trainer friend of mine at the time was struggling with a filly trotter and asked Doug for help - he provided some, and it helped.
