With the list of other trainers who have previously won, he should at least be eligible.  He was never charged or found guilty of anything.  He was never given due process either.  Right or wrong, every horseman deserves that.

He was never given due process either.

He was given a ludicrous whitewash. Casie's teflon umbrella never looked more powerful.

Would there not be a lawsuit for the scratches from the super finals if he was found completely innocent?

I've got shafted a few times but Beaton really got the shaft here. Far and away the trainer of the year in Canada.

Just a few corrections here;
He was charged with Rule 6.20(b) A participant shall be considered to have violated the Rules for any misconduct prejudicial to the best interests of racing. ....... He was found guilty.

He was also charged with Rule 6.22 Any participant committing an act of cruelty or neglect to a horse whether on or off the grounds of the Association, shall be liable to a monetary penalty or suspension or both.  ........ He was found innocent.

I'm not sure what your definition of "due process" is but these words were quoted from HRAP (Horse Racing Appeals Panel) chair Stanley Sadinsky, “Counsel have given us a mountain of evidence to go over. We’ve heard from 22 witnesses; 19 exhibits have been filed. I think this is day 10 of the hearing, and… my suspicion is that we are close to a thousand pages of transcript.”

I believe the whole process went on for weeks & may have been live streamed & open to the public.

In my humble opinion, since he was found innocent of 6.22 he most definitely should have been on the ballot.

that all took place in 2023 anyway

he’s clearly the trainer of the year in Canada for 2024
if the OBriens don’t want to recognize that I guess that’s their business but they can’t seem to go one single year without fumbling at least one award

no way there is a lawsuit for the super final scratches
at the time the agco had more than sufficient evidence to scratch the horses( some of that evidence later disappeared), it was warranted
also would not be surprised if there was some conditions to the ruling, in other words we are going to let this slide and its over, you don't come back on us for anything

no way in hell those horses should have been scratched from the super finals without due process.

why punish the owners who paid entry fee and stake payments all year to earn their spot in that race?

That's what I was getting at, it's not as clear as him being cleared of all wrong doing. His license was reinstated but with conditions that won't ever be disclosed.
Beaton himself hasn't said anything public its the George Hamilton look a like holding the bull horn

swandre, i see your point , given it was not a ped charge(although god knows that is also likely)by penalizing the trainer the owners get hit as well
but given the circumstances the agco acted quickly , they had no choice, if it got out that agco was aware a trainer had been abusing a horse and they turned a blind eye and let him race in those finals they would get crucified in main stream media got wind ( assuming they cared )

Look how he was able to step up and take the reins of the Ronald Burke stable and seamlessly keep the stable rolling .
