So Matt Bax ends up with a $4,000 fine and no time. I believe it was a Morphine positive
Clearly being the son of John Bax has its benefiits.
For comparison's sake, Moreau got $40,000 and 10 years for a class 1, where the powers that be know it was actually Fillion's doing, but Moreau was the trainer of record.
The system is broken.

Kawartha Downs announced on Wednesday, Nov. 20 the appointment of Lindsay Bax as the new Harness Racing Manager, effective immediately.
Bax takes over from Jim Huck, who has overseen harness racing at Kawartha Downs for many years. Kawartha Downs extends its sincere thanks to Huck for his dedicated service and leadership in harness racing at the Fraserville, Ont. oval.
Bax brings a wealth of industry knowledge and passion to her new role, having spent several decades involved in the harness racing industry and hailing from a well-known racing family. Known for her hands-on approach and her commitment to delivering high-quality racing experiences, Bax is set to bring fresh energy and new ideas to her home track.
“We’re excited to welcome Lindsay to the team and look forward to her vision for the future of harness racing here,” said Richard Weldon, President at Kawartha Downs. “Her experience and dedication make her a fantastic fit for this role, and we’re confident she’ll continue to build on the strong foundation Jim has established.”
“I’m thrilled to join Kawartha and work alongside such a passionate team," said Bax. "This track holds a special place in my heart, and I look forward to connecting with our racing community and enhancing the experience for both fans and participants."
In 2025, harness racing at Kawartha Downs will return to Saturday nights, pending regulatory approvals, with an exciting year of programming in the works.

Moreau is not a good guy. IMO he knows what is going on. That being said the system is definitely broken.

System definitely broken! Moreau definitely a cheating piece of shit!

"Moreau is not a good guy. IMO he knows what is going on. That being said the system is definitely broken."
And Bax doesn't. There needs to be an explanation provided when these decisions come down. Helps with transparency and benchmarking for the next incident.
Anyone who owns or trains horses deserves that much, at least.
-
Also.. 2 wks earlier, Isabelle Darveau received 6 mos, $5k fine for a lesser Class 2 positive.. same jurisdiction.. it's really broken!
-
Bax was also allowed to continue racing while he appealed.
Didnt even need a David Drew type beard or anything.
-
Fair to say EVERY HARNESS RACE run has at least one cheater in it?
Yes, that'd be fair.
THUS, NOT ONE HARNESS RACE IS 100% HONEST.
So..why do government bodies allow us to wager
on any event if integrity is ALWAYS in question. They are OBLIGATED to protect the consumer.
We are fools. They are fools.
-
System definitely broken! Moreau definitely a cheating piece of shit!
now he has his groom as a beard..some black kid...ACGO never ceases to amaze.
-
John Bax wont need to wear any suntan lotion while in Florida this winter. All that shit he has covering his face from having his head up WEG, COSA and inevitably AGCOS asses, should provide enough protection. This business is in ruins.

Interesting.
As in most things in life it's who you know that counts the most.

Is not class 1 the worst you can get? How no time served. Can someone explain. Thanks.

There is no logical explanation. This is an injustice above and beyond the alleged Linda Toscano and Jimmy Takter epo positive cover ups.
Bax gets a lot of undeserved praise for horses that go onto the track half rigged and half feral, must be a driver's nightmare but at least they're all expensive and well bred so can go

What a crock of shit! That shit was from April 2023, he appeals and gets less than half the fine and zero days. You Canadians call some of our tracks crooked? That is bullshit at its finest.

You don't seem to understand. This has nothing to do with a particular track. This is the government body that oversees racing in Ontario.
The AGCO hands out fines and suspensions. Not the racetrack.
-
Damn! That's even worse. Whole organization is corrupt. Glad a barely watch any Canadian racing. tmbz1

I’d be happy to explain, Matt Bax is just another trainer to get railroaded with a contamination positive. When it was all said and done, the split sample spoke for itself (9 picograms). Which isn’t enough to affect a mouse.
Another thing to look at is the performance on the racetrack. One of the horses slowest miles of its life.
Furthermore, everyone in the industry knows that Baxes don’t drug or drench.
Have a great day!
-
Sure it was…but what about the other contamination positives… they got lengthy suspensions. Its all who you are…

If this is the case (the picograms), shouldn't that be indicated somewhere?

Not quit so fast. If you bothered to read the ruling (page 60) you would understand the amount detected is adjusted for contamination issues. Here is the quote: "A positive test is called by the official chemist only when the quantity of a prohibited drug contained in an official sample of urine or blood from a race horse exceeds the combined total of both the screening level and the safety factor for that drug. As a consequence, the enhanced sophistication of testing equipment has no impact as to whether or not the official chemist calls a positive test. .......... Now moving on to your excuse of the split sample not showing a positive read (pages 56/57) for an explanation. Both of those excuses came up in the hearing & BOTH were DENIED/DISMISED with explanations. If you are going to defend Bax at least come with a better argument then what you have given so far.
