There is a federal election in a little over a month--where people get opportunity for change.
Not so at Yonkers--which is why the place is being run into the ground.
1) Nothing for owners to entice them to come to track.
2) Race secretary doesnt change the program--eg the 7-8 are always given 0 opportunity to get into the race--are not bet and reduce handle---why not have a few races where the 7-8 are on the second line??? If a trainer /owner doesnt want this--then when they make driver changes--inform of intent to race off the gate.
Now-every race just about-there are one or 2 leavers-they go Indian file -slow second 1/4--horses in the back(usually 7-8 -90% of the time--eliminated from hitting the board. Bettors are leaving-as there is v little value.
3) Write more conditions--eg nw allowed in easier races.
4)Have a few long distance races or 1 1/16th races-just to spice things up and get the outside horses a bit more of a chance.
5) Fans on tack(hardly any now) get 0. No vouchers if they bet enough on the horses-eg to get something to eat--anything--to get them to come.
6)Empire Lounge should be open--even if to let Casino gamblers get food. It was shut-because fans not looked after-no vouchers--food overpriced.
Etc Etc Etc,-when a business goes bad--usually the CEO is canned. Not at Yonkers--Question--Why??

Bond, I think we know the answer, they do not care for buggy racing. Time to give up on the buggy racing and switch to the Tea Breds

Bond, it would be great if posts 4-8 were given the chance to race from the second tier. The face of racing would totally change at 1/2 mile tracks. Only two trailers allowed post 5&6 get first choice. It would force drivers to be more aggressive, and outcomes less predictable

Early 90's when I first started in this game Yonkers used to have some races with six on gate and two trailers.

My late grandfather told me he went to YR/Empire when they ran thoroughbreds. I'm not sure if they raced at night then. I remember the old grandstand which is now demolished had concrete artwork on the side of the building depicting 3 tb's racing.
I understand the track was bigger, It wasn't 1/2 mile but I'm not sure what it was.
Do you think night tb races would fly there?
