In any form of gambling the key is to find an angle that very few people see as everyone knows that picking winners without value is a 100 recipe for disaster as 36 point favorites in Football will win the game 97 percent of the time and if you bet a 100k to win 1k you should get killed winning at 97 percent,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Well now to my point many on this site ask why is this game dead and the answer is easy,,,,,,,,,,The tv analyst come on tv and try to pick winners and not value in the standardbred game an if you watch the NYRA OR California racing shows they will try to show you that a 14-1 has value and this makes the game look like a way better betting investment and guys like Roger Huston will tell you thats my 7th winner of the day and as 2,80 was the average price and Roger and the morons around him will say great handicapping Roger and these Roger type handicappers on every show in harness racing make the game look like a stupid mans game,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, At no harness track in North America does a harness show make the game look like a fun product where you can walk in with 100 and walk out with 5k and the t-bred game does exactly that and the way todays drivers race in harness racing it is a stupid game,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, If gamblers were running this game it would be different as in Vegas most lose but most are happy with the treatment,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, When i see a racetrack handicapper have a value play before seeing the odds it shocks me as value is a 8-1 shot that should be 5-1 and how can you ever call a value play before seeing odds and the Western Fair announcer who i call the worst in the business has a value play every race before seeing odds and this guy picks horses and if you watch Hoosier you will see him say it looks like he might of got locked in last time and its simple watch the replay moron and in Qualifiers they will talk time and make comment without watching and how crazy is that,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,As long as MR MAGOO runs this game and it will be forever it has no chance,,,,,,,,,,,,And last if you watch a poker show you will see highly skilled players talking to the public and show you betting skills and not talk ACES as a bad player Aces will be played poorly........

Hard to gamble in this sport when your horse is 20 or more lengths behind the gate or has not hit a pace or trot and there's no recall! At least Thoroughbred's if he doesn't come out of the gate, he's a non starter! Not to mention the line up racing with drivers looking back for their buddies! I'm done with betting on Harness.

Kirby the best of the best have quit and the biggest problem is still allowing computer betters access to the pools, When i see drivers age as a problem for gambling i say to myself please keep these people in the game as the pools today show smart money every race and the dumb chalks today get easy trips around the track and win and regular gamblers cant take stupidity winning,,,,,,,,

I know some of the biggest horse players in the country. I can't speak to Dana P., but I can speak to Ernie D and others I know personally. I won't speak to the open windows or CAW's. Regardless, there are not many left who can actually make a living/profit in harness racing. As we know, many left for the t-breds. There are reasons why. A recent article at HRU mentioned about four or five guys left who probably make a living/profit in harness racing. Obviously there are more in the t-breds. Why? Rhetorical question.
Some say that if cockroaches were racing, people would bet on them. The reality is, a pro, someone who makes their living at this, someone who must show a profit, is going to look for certain key ingredients. Full fields is one. Competitive fields is another. This provides certain benefits, just one being more reliability, integrity, etc., in races/results. Large pools to bet into are another. So is a reasonable takeout. Yes, rebates too. Remember when the tracks were trying to put the off-shore rebate shops out of business. What did they do to their takeout? What happened? Again, rhetorical questions. OK, so have all this, and at the same time look at the % of winning favorites over the course of a meet. Then start to break down the winning favorites and the classes they come from. Information is the most valuable commodity one can have.
You can eat your betting money.....but never bet your eating money. LOL.

All gamblers are loser end of story.

It bad enough when you lose your money, but it's even worse trying to chase your losses.

probably about 99.8% lose--but when rebates entered into the equation-that turned some of the losers into winners
without a rebate and/or not being involved in a CAW-you have little chance
i also believe being a minus pool player can be profitable--if you are good enough

Will harness racing ever change?
Single file racing, the buddy system, stupid fair start and pylon rules etc.
Doped up horses and also some drivers.
Need new blood to govern this business and change a lot
of rules including the classification system.
No wonder tracks are closing.
The same old same old does not work forever.

There is a way to be a winner, just don't bet.
Spend your money on a good steak and lobster tail or a good sista like Rocco.

When the old Brandywine Raceway in Wilmington, Delaware was still open, the machines didn't lock sometimes until at least 10 seconds after the start so some people including myself would be standing in front of a live teller window, there were no self-service machines back then, and watch the start of the races on TV and bet horses who were leaving either to win or exacta boxes. Several of us made good money at it, as did the tellers we tipped.

When i read posts on this site it shows me why horse racing is dead,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,In sports betting many sharp gamblers have made millions as they find mistakes made by oddsmakers or have hidden knowledge that most do not have,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, In poker the game was dead and a few top players took over the scene and today many of these people are super rich,,,,,,,,,,,,LOOK AT NAMES LIKE DANIEL NEGANEAU,,,DOYLE BRUNSON,,CHIP REESE ,,,PHIL IVEY,,ERIC SEIDEL,,PHIL HELMUTH,,,FEDOR HOLZ,,,,PHIL HELMUTH AND hundreds of others who are not only millionaires but multi millionaires and watch a poker shows and you will see a group of people that will let you know that the game is a game of skill and explain to you the strategy behind playing the game right were you can win money by strategy and now in horse racing they have not figured out that no strategy and just picking winners that pay 3 dollars is not a formula to bring new people in the game,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Years ago i watched a interview with the head of the lottery and the journalist said to him that powerball has a record jackpot and i guess you want 100s of winners and he replied that the best result for the lottery would be one massive winner of a billion dollars because that would be a story for the ages and even casinos love to see the old lady screaming hiting a jackpot and everyone walking over to see the excitement and even game show prove the bigger the prize the more people will watch but in horse racing the announcer will tell you were the betting favorite is from start to finish and his voice will show excitement when the chalk wins as he believes everybody is happy as 1-2 shots are all you should bet,,,,,,,,Even if you do not win you would still like to see hope and what brought me to this game was the guy who screamed under that tv when catching a tri that paid 10000 and today the crowd is to old to scream and the 10000 tri is very rare with single file racing,,,,,,,,,,
