For all he spends on yearlings, his Hambletonian day results were less than stellar...note the 4-5 were in a 5-horse field.

I would love to be able to spend a tenth of what he does on yearlings.

Alagna is tenth in earnings with $2,267,826. The year is not over yet. It doesn't look like a good year. Will a good emerge?
Down years for:
Trainers Alagna, Toscano, J. Miller, King, Schnittker, Melander, & Pelling.
Sires: Sweet Lou, Muscle Hill, Greenshoe, & Father Patrick.

Very true. As a career, the guy's #'s, accomplishments, etc., are certainly top notch. But I am not so sure the Hambo day results are just limited to Hambo Day. Spending that money isn't to get you into top 10 for money won. It's for top 5, or better, and even more important, to win the big dances. There's a lot of owners there who spend a lot of money, send a lot of homebreds there, run them through the ring and bring them home. Every winter, when they start winter training, there's not a stable that has horses that look better and has better bred horses than Tony's. Big expectations and big results wanted and needed.
