Not big time at all, but a nice "claim." Back in the 90s watched a little mare racing around in the <$10k claimers. We wanted to claim her to breed her in a few months, but she dropped off entries for a while so finally just called the guy and said we planned to claim her and asked if he would just sell her at that price and he said "nah don't do that I'll sell her to you for less."
Mare had been having trouble tying up. We just raced her out of a field and she went from claimer to open in a few months. Actually regretted breeding her as she dropped her record over 3 seconds, while in foal. Still have that foal mowing grass, nearly 30 now.

In the 90s I saw a guy climb up the bottom claiming ranks winning every week until he was in for 30k. He got claimed for thirty and didn’t win another race dropping all the way down to 4k in just weeks. Horses name was Storm Go. Come to think of it but it’s the last time I saw the trainer too. Doug Larson.

Rambling Storm
would race in the $100-150k handicap drawn by price at M1 in the late 80s
that claiming handicap was often tougher than the preferred and/or invitational
Mike Lachance drove him well at a time when Campbell and Moiseyev dominated M1
