And most of the time the race handle is less than the race purse! look at tonight's races 2nd race the handle was 19K and the purse was 35K another race 5 the handle was 21K and the purse was 35K! I mean how much welfare can go around?
How's this possible?

Surely this isn't a good look for those in NYS controlling the subsidies. I would like to think, this would raise some eyebrows on those who have a say in the subsidies they receive.
Wishful thinking on my part, I know.

Perhaps a Yonkers MGM executive should look at Oaklawn Park. Oaklawn has a very successful VLT program using the Historic Racing machines.
Anyway, Yonkers , like Oaklawn receives a great amount of money from their host casino's revenue spits. But, Oaklawn actually makes this money work for all involved. They have a superior purse structure with $30K going to $10K claimers going short, up to Maiden races for $110K and Allowance races, never win 2 going for $130K.
Yes, their racing season is half the days of Yonkers so, there is the building of the account. But, Oaklawn spreads the incentives around to help insure the fields are full and the also rans get a taste.
A trainers incentive of $250 for every entry that finishes 5th or lower . They also have more state bred incentives and owner direct incentives. They treat their on track patrons like they really matter have a wonderful facility. They also fund dozens of local and national stake races every week.
Bottom line, Oaklawn Park gets it right. They make the most of their subsidies to grow the sport and their business, all the while rewarding the horsemen and owners for putting on a world class show.
Yonkers picks who they want to be successful and pisses on the rest. All the while destroying the game and their business every day.

Explain, why yonkers need racing? Live paramutuel betting for slot license ? ? Didnt florida,do away with that ? Some handle for rscing is 11k a race..absurd. 11 grand should be onttsck...God.

They are so dumb there...their early pick 4 on races 1-4 pools do well, especially on mondays where it's usually over $20K. So this monday the first four races are fields of 6, 5, 5, 5.

Why do they even have live racing? Just enter your name and they can assign or draw you a finish position! Sure, would cut a lot of overhead!

The horseman control the slot revenue. It is part of their contract with the track. If tack doesn’t have a signed contract with the area horseman’s group they don’t have a slot license. One of these days yall will get your head out of your ass and learn. It is not a subsidy it is a profit sharing arrangement. If the state did away with it the money would go to the casino company not the taxpayers

I don’t understand all the negativity. I really don’t.
