My goodness. The 4th race at M was a $5,000-$7,500 claimer. What the heck is going on?
-
And they only race 'TWO' days a week. ngc3
-
their 8000 dollar purse is a lot better than monti, saratoga and pcd....the cheapies will flock to the swamp....

it has been this way for a few years this time of year
Freehold North/Monti South--same thing

You cant fill races with integrity. ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 Aint enough horses to go around
-
Seems to be plenty in Ohio. Miami and Nfld . Mostly full fields [often with added entries]
-
Yonkers has several short fields too.

They better hope that they can go fast enough to make $$$. In a 10 horse field, 5 won't make any $$$$$. The cheap races will help the purse account and the bettors don't care whether it's a 5000-7500 claimer or better races, they will bet it!!!

M1 now pays all starters.

Sorry about that!
How many miles will the cheap ones come to race at the meadowlands?

Apparently at M1 it doesn't matter if it is cheap cheap claimers and short fields. They are over 3 mill again tonight.

The Yonkers FFA series ends soon and some horses will return to the Meadowlands. The money they are saving on the purses now should allow them to increase them starting Kentucky Derby weekend. This is the first time I can remember when the former LEVY series at Yonkers (MGM name now) had absolutely NO effect on the size of the Meadowlands fields or the handle, even with all tracks now open, so paying all finishers definitely helped them maintain the $3 million handles. Tetrick has only 28 drives at the Meadowlands this entire year and the bettors could not care less. Night's Handle: $3,250,963.64

last night's handle proved another false fact that they need 10 horse fields to bet over $3 million.. They had 5 races with less than 8 horses and even one race had a 5-horse field for $5000-$7500. Of the 10 horse fields they had, one was an amateur race, one was a very low trackmaster race and the other 2 were the lowest condition races. simply put, they don't attract the best horses around like years past.

Sad! Long gone are the days of 75-100k claiming handicaps on Saturday nights. I loved M1 then! tmbz1

Faster horses do not mean better races!!!! Mlands proves bettors love the big track. Racing is like baseball. People love a 7 to 8 game with home runs . Only thing better would be a no hitter (horse setting a world record).
While I’m on a rant. How many people are listening to the same old winners circle crap?? Owners and friends being there is ok but reading off the breeding, age of horse , the breeder and driver and trainer ?? Its all in the program.
Skip all that and cut the time between races a few minutes.
Have a nice day.

Try 100-200k claiming handicaps and people actually claimed them out of races too!!

Who says there is inflation? You could have scooped one up for $5k last night. tmbz1
