Friday---First 4 races all short fields set up for Burke and Engblom Stable.
No claimers, no lower level conditions
How is supporting Burke and Engblom with less competition- helping the handle?? Just helps create more of a monopoly than it already seems to be.
How is having short fields -not racing the rest of the industry participants beneficial??
Meadowlands races amateurs-and full fields of lower-class horses--and the handle is actually BETTER!!
Monticello handle is greater than Yonkers racing full fields of lower class horses.
IMHO-there should be an investigation into how/why this is happening at Yonkers.
William Shakespeare's Hamlet would say " Something is rotten in the State of Yonkers"

just ask joe faroldo

I hear frasure doesnt let people race that want to. Not sure if its true but that's what I hear.

It has been this way for years and now you want an investigation?
You seem to think purses and quality of horse have something to do with handle--and that is flat out incorrect.
M1 and Monti handle well due to name recognition
Yonkers could care less about their handle
you could race Bangor horses at M1 and they would still outhandle the others
people like 2 turn racing--they feel like they have a chance
M1 gives the aging fan base a warm and fuzzy feeling from the 70s and 80s, they prefer M1 because it brings back memories of yesteryear--thats why amateur driving races are used--it doesn't matter and it doesn't affect handle
I could go on..but why bother?
again, quality of horses and higher purses have absolutely nothing to do with handle.

Hasn't SCM spelled out to us all about what's going on at Yonkers?
He said if you can't get accepted, to call him and he will take care of it!

Let me get this straight Mr Papillon(Steve Mcqueen--great movie)
You made my point--I know also-that Yonkers seems to not care about handle--otherwise they would not do what they are now doing--taking care of a chosen few with short fields..
This is confusing to me--because they could just race full fields-better handle--allowing all classes to race to at least give everyone a shot and make it interesting--like they did 40 years ago--until this latest crew took over the helm.
Could someone be getting paid to have the most unattractive card-with terrible handle--so that the Casino will have a great case to close it down--thats what it looks like to me.IMHO.

While I see your general point, 2 of the 4 first races are a series. Can't really help who is in those at what? leg 3, 4 of this series?

When are those horses from Bangor, Monticello, and Cal Expo coming to the Meadowlands? Would save the track a lot of purse $$$ for the night!!

Something ain't kosher. Why do you write an open trot, get maybe the same 5 horses every week and write a NW of 20K trot right behind it . It to draws 4 or so. Why not make it an open handicap and stop writing checks to the same people every week.
How about the FM open trot. Same deal. Make it an open handicap and save $30K in purse money.
We all know the current horse population is the greatest challenge to fill a race and a race card. But, Yonkers seems to be counterintuitive in its logic.
I usually give the stakeholders the benefit of the doubt in such matters but, in the grand scheme of racinos and casinos, doing what is right for racing is not in the best interest of the casino and their shareholders.
