Racing 3 or 4 days a week depending upon month.

I think it's necessary. The tracks are now lying in the bed they made. If the goal is full and competitive fields, large pools to bet into, then from a track's perspective, what should they do? Race more days, have less races per day, with shorter fields? This will result in smaller pools and yes, ultimately smaller handle? The horse population is what it is. I think we need more consolidation in races, race days, and tracks, so yes, in the short run, yes, less race days and less races. It will raise the overall product in time. Not tomorrow. But in time. Too many people who run racetrack's don't know anything about the racetrack business.
Like when tracks raise the takeout and complain about ADW sites.

I heard there is competition for their casino. That is why the purses aren't great. The best reasons to race at Chester are location & home for dinner.

As soon as one of the Casinos is able to wriggle out of their contract, many more will do the same. It would only take one extremely smart attorney for the mass exodus to be set in motion. The Meadowlands will be the only game on the east coast!

this must be done with legislation
its not like you can hire a lawyer and file suit for decoupling

Without the welfare contributions most harness tracks will fold up like a cheap suit!
