We all saw the Saratoga race where Leon Bailey was parked in a race by Mitchell Cushing a couple of weekends ago. Then he sought out Cushing and apparently started a physical fight. So Bailey has earned himself a 30-day suspension, plus a $500 fine, to ponder how he is going to conduct himself from this point forward. I am not sure why Cushing received a 10-day suspension plus a fine. Unless this was a different situation what did he do where the judges indicated he didn’t conduct himself in a gentlemanly manner. All I saw was a driver who thought he had the best horse and didn’t want to give up his lead. He was right and won the race while Bailey’s horse faded away.

Maybe because Cushing pointed his whip towards the tote board, reminding Bailey of his long shot status. Judges don’t like theatrics. Dan Charlino at The Meadows, and Ron Pierce in the 2006 at the Kentucky Filly Futurity ( waving at Trond Smedshammer) both got fined.

Didn't we already cover this at length? ;D

Yes we discussed the event but never what the consequences would be. Bailey actually was given double the suspension and fine but because he didn’t appeal they cut both both in half. Sounds kind of generous to me. What is missing is a fine/suspension of Larry Stalbaum. Remember in the pouring rain he recklessly cut off another horse causing an in race problem. Why haven’t the Saratoga judges taken any action? Are we seeing a favoritism among these judges because Stalbaum brings some better horseflesh than most trainers? Most drivers would have quickly been given 3-5 days for what I saw.

Read what you wrote. Pouring rain. It was a bad night that night. Just drop it.
