MLB NEEDS HIM..BUT
The great S. OHTANI addresses media, with a new 'unfired' interpreter, about 5pm et this aft...something about GAMBLING ON HIS OWN GAMES allegations.
IRS and feds have LA bookie and ohtani interpreter in their sights..and the question now..is Ohtani in large trouble.
Three supposedly legit tweets suggest STRONGLY he was betting and throwing games w Angels...take a look and see what you think.

Ohtani Throwing Games: A Thread
(1) July 22, 2022, a bet of $1,000,000 was placed for the Atlanta Braves to score over 6.5 runs against the Los Angeles Angels parlayed with Braves -3.5. The bet was placed with a bookie in Mizusawa (Shohei’s home town). The pitcher for the Angels
2)) that day? Shohei Ohtani. That stats for Shohei that day were as followed, 6.1 IP, 6 H, 6 ER and 1 BB. At the plate you ask? 0-3 with 2 strike outs. Was he throwing games? I’ll let you decide that.
3) July 4, 2023 (America’s Birthday!!!) a bet was placed in the same hometown with the same bookie for 4.2 million dollars on the over for the Padres run total! Guess who was pitching? You guessed it! Shofraud! 5 IP 5 ER while going 0-3 at the plate….
NOT EVEN 10 DAYS LATER A
4) 10 MILLION DOLLAR BET WAS PLACED. Same bookie, same town….. a parlay with +2500 odds.
•Astros -1.5
•Astros o 6.5
•Shohei o 4.5 runs allowed
•Shohei u 6.5 K
•game total o 11.5
Shohei’s line for that day, 6 IP, 9 H, 5 ER while allowing 2 home runs. Shohei went 2-5 at the
5)plate. The extra motivation to make the over cash really helped.
He has a true addiction and problem. He needs real help. Hopefully the true story gets out and the poor interpreter can be set free from this madness

Stay tuned.

Shohei Ohtani will not be taking questions from the media, I’m told. Instead, he will read a statement at 2:45 pm PT.

So somebody went back, found games where he was shit, and has decided to say he bet on THOSE games. Ya, that seems legit.
Around here we call the Redboarding.
-
Around here we call that VERY INTERESTING. Those are massive bets, but less massive when placed in Japan, and they are going hand in hand with some colorful numbers if all true. When one gets in way over their head, like what this situation seems, anything goes and then some. This will not go away any time soon. Call Pete Rose.
-
one thing for sure the interpreter doesn't have that kind of cash to make those bets on his own
and how again did he get $4.5 m or more from ohtani bank account without ohtani knowing ???
lets watch with interest
could move this thread to a non harness racing site unless i am missing the connection

Baseball historian Ken Burns standing by
(in case we have to add an 'extra inning')
Shoeless Shohei?

It guess Plop isn't the best place for cutting edge breaking news.
Someone should give Timmy smokes a tongue lashing on X

Come on what bookie is taking a ten million dollar bet. There is no casino that will take a ten million dollar bet let alone some tavern bookie in Japan. I’m not even buying anyone would accept that kind of bet.

We almost had Otahni here in Toronto before Dodgers got him. So tonight, to make up for that gambling fumble,
another one of our Toronto sports teams tonight, our hapless NBA Raptors, and one of their hapless centers Jontay Porter (Nuggets brother Michael Porter Jr.) maybe barred for life after his gambling over/under pts. on himself came to light. Pulling himself from games to apparently stay 'under'. Oh oh.

10,000,000 Yen = $60,000 US.

Well, if they were fixing games they didn't a very good job of it considering they wound up owing the book more than 4 mill.

The Feds just said NONE of the bets were on baseball.
