Title: Shipping fuel surcharges!
Post by: wizardofoz on February 28, 2024, 03:08:08 PM
The pandemic is over. The price per gallon of ALL gasolines has dropped back a lot.  Why are fuel surcharges still be added by trainers now? It is just like businesses making its customers pay the 2-4% takeout charge on their credit cards as well since covid.

Not sure where you are at. But in NJ gas is down 5 cents from last month but still 87 cents higher than last year. Personally I didn’t do fuel surcharge I just raised the price for all shipping. So no one can complain and want to know how long the surcharge will be on for.

While gasoline prices have fallen (still too high-but so is everything else) diesel prices have not dropped nearly as much...
in PA still paying $4.65 or more for diesel.......if you are running diesel you are spending alot more than you used to spend.

All these surcharges are BS at this point. How about I had a $1,200 root canal the other day. I used my credit card and my long time dentist tried to add 3% like the restaurants are doing. I thought the dental assistant was expecting a tip! What a world we are living in.

Fuel surcharges are just a soft way to fuck people over...

Just raise your prices to cover the xtra fuel and case close.

But it's easier to say it's a surcharge because I'm making enough off you already, but I need more!

There are quite a few other ways too!  Like having to pay for checking in your baggage/luggage (southwest airlines excluded)!

How about "supply" and workmen's compensation charges added each month to pad the bills? Those are not owners expenses. Those are the cost of doing business for yourself.  Plumbers do NOT add on supply charges if they buy new tools to fix a sink.

NJ gas is .87 higher now than 1 year ago? Gas on Route 9 in Old Bridge BP station today was 2.97 per gallon of regular fuel.  It was NEVER 2.10 per gallon last year. Diesel fuel is .87 cents LESS in January 2024 than it was in January 2023:   https://www.nyserda.ny.gov/Energy-Prices/On-Highway-Diesel/Monthly-Diesel-Prices
