What do you think?
Harmer bike
Ufo
Spyder
Blackjack
Cone
Cheetah
What do guys use most now a days?
-
By far the 🐆🐆🐆🐆
-
I would defer to Lance for his expertise but how about the single shaft? ngc3
-
Cheetah! And the Bike Bike with the stirrups directly behind the tail and the big cotterpin holding it on! This particular one was the root cause for the lay back style of driving! tmbz1
-
Cheeta
-
Why would we give a shit about a race bike? We would be like putting tire shine on a Prius

I always thought having two shafts was better than one. You know…..for safety.
-
Race bikes and wheels make a huge difference. Take your prius. I'll take the Cheetah. Seems like every bike after the blackjack was based off of it. Donyoubthinkbguys would use the Cheetah if it were allowed?
-
I remember the old Naussa Turf bike were a big innovation.
-
Houghton and Jerald were popular when I was a pup. Then Wilform came along with the underslung wheels. I think Joe O'brien was involved with them. all of the previously mentioned bikes evolved over the years. I don't recall anyone mentioning the Tel-Star which I think was a well made sulky that can be considered closer to "old school" bikes and didn't encourage the ridiculous lean of today's drivers.
-
Original Big Wheel
-
The Equalizer was ahead of its time, long ago.
-
The Chicago...The underslung....mid 70s
-
Cheetah
I wonder if Steve Wheels is still around.

The year cheeta was outlawed life sign won jug hitched to it. Every horse in race was actually hitched to one
-
you had to have a cheetah. you were at a disadvantage if you didnt, then campbell fucked it up for everyone.

Didn't Joe King come out with a "Underslung" also or was he from Chi-town?
-
love the old tel stars still use them to train
-
The King was first, I think then the Nassau. Not to far apart, if ya didn't have one you weren't going anywhere. The Cheetah was the fastest bike ever, rattled so much it scared the hell out of them. great for the boot. Love to see one on any of the good 3 yr olds and see what they'd do, with Steve's Wheels.
-
Curt Watson Cheetah was was greatest face bike by far
-
The cheetah is probably the fastest bike of all time. UFO is probably the best going right now but a cheetah would still probably be faster.
-
It was a big move going to a metal bike....wood shafts used to get soft and warp...and nobody likes that. Metal shafts stay hard for ever....and when you are staring at a big butt you want to make sure everything is hard.
-
wasnt stein the guy behind the cheetah and the black jack?
-
Curt Watson
-
IMHO
The Rolls-Royce of race bikes was The Houghton Faber circa Bret Hanover/ Frank Ervin.
All wood shafts, arch, and forks.
Put a padded cushion on the rattan seat and it was the most comfordable ride on the track. It just seemed to ride with you like a giant shock absorber.
The Houghton Faber went out of favor when Stanley Dancer started exclusively using the Jeralds with the wood shafts, and metal arch.

The most appropriate thing you ever wrote. ;D tmbz1

Wasn't there a bike called the Watson around the time of the cheetah. Back in the early 90's a friend I had at YR told me some drivers at the Meadows were using a bike called the Watson.

Way back in the day I saw one of those wooden shaft bikes get involved in a racing accident, a horse ran 2 laps around the track with no driver and kicked one of those bikes to smithereens, splintered wood everywhere.
I saw it happen live at Monticello.
-
There was a company called super sulky that was the Cheetah. Watson and Stein must of been partners. They really kinda got screwed.
-
How about the carbon fiber thing Campbell liked, didn't last long. When the Blackjack came out it was the had to have bike.
-
UFO makes a solid product.
-
ufo is another watson bike he has invented some of the greatest race bikes
-
Cheetah 🐆 fastest bike made
