Post by: whiptherabbit on January 12, 2024, 06:05:25 PM
I’d offer up Rair Earth for 50k & Run Vera Run 4K for astute claims

Two horrific ones off the top of my head Bad Bert & Mumbo King, both around 300k….

Courtesy of Bob Pandolfo:

" The greatest claim may have been Fight The Foe. Claimed for $10,000, Fight The Foe climbed the class ladder and became one of the top pacers in the sport. In 1979, he won the Cardigan Bay Pace at Roosevelt Raceway, defeating a quality field that included Rambling Willie, Newt Lobell, Nickylou, Seedling Herbert, Mostest Yankee, Wizard Almahurst and Sirota Anderson."

Ted Wing was a terrific horseman. He should have put the cigarettes in the garbage many years earlier.

I remember Martin Scharf claimed Bad Bert for $200,000. I don't remember if someone had ever claimed him for more than that. Just don't remember.

St Elmo Hero   1:49.1   $793,306
Claimed out of his first lifetime start.
A N/W1 to be claimed for $7,000.
Went 19 for 19 that first year.
10 for 10 for Darcy Pletcher/ Robert Smolin befor he went out east.
