Artsplace at Sportsmans Park (1991-92?)

Obviously many others but these 3 are pretty recognizable

Niatross Meadowlands Pace 1980
Nihilator Meadowlands Pace 1985
Somebeachsomewher e Meadowlands Pace 2008

I saw Jenna race a few times but he never won. Got my picture taken holding him at Southwick Farm training center a few days before he got beat by Falcon Dakota in the 1996 American-National at Sportsman's Park. JBB was one of 2 horses I ever saw up close and personal who looked like an equine weight lifter. Bulging muscles on top of muscles. The other was T-bred Dr. Fager.

(after he got Ron Piereced with Art Official in Meadowlands )
saw Somebeachsomewher e late August dominant in all time 3 yr old, half mile time victory of 1.49.0!!!!!
And one t'bred moment..age 16 with my father october '73..saw Secretariat's last race @ Toronto's packed Woodbine, moist October conditions, when 'Big Red beat up best Canadian horses, pulling awa. Eddie Maple on for suspended regular Ron Turcotte.
My dad had bought $2 show ticket. But we lost the uncashed 2.10 somewhere along the way....fifty yrs later thatd be worth somethin'.

I know these are a while back but,
Artsplace winning the Cane pace at YR.
Pershing Square at RR.
Dragons Lair at RR.
I know the bottom two weren't world beaters but they were very impressive in this respect.
On nights when the average race was finished in about 202 they both ran eye popping sub 156 miles, at the time that was eye popping at a 1/2 mile.

You're not that old yet and your memory is not that foggy yet either. Artsplace won the US Pacing Championship at Yonkers -- setting a new all age track record -- in 1:52.1
Go check out the race. It was an incredibly impressive performance. Most people don't truly understand how much talent that horse actually had.

Artsplace won the US Pacing Championship at The Meadowlands in 1992
unless they had another US Pacing Championship at Yonkers the same year
i say Artsplace never competed at Yonkers unless it was his 2yo season in 1990
if he did--please show me video or a chart
thank you
-
I only remember Artsplace racing once on a half and that was at 3 in the Dancer at Freehold, which he won.

I am aware that i broke some secret unwritten rule
"Though shall not speak against Artsplace"
but i didnt--he was great
but this is a classic example of folks remembering and believing what they want
yes, Artsplace at pompano as a 2yo
yes, Artsplace undefeated as a 4yo-spectacular
but nobody wants to talk about Precious Bunny completely dominating him in 1991--ALL YEAR LONG
they faced about 10 or 11 times with Precious Bunny winning 8 or 9 of them
yes, Robinson gas
one could easily say, considering how " great " he was at two--and his undefeated season at age 4..that Artsplace had one of the most disappointing 3yo seasons ever in 1991

Almost everyone I know -- everyone in the business -- knows it's common knowledge that Artsplace was not healthy for a major portion of his three year old year. You can say whatever you want against Artsplace -- even that I imagined him at YR and it's a figment of my own imagination. I didn't own him, train him or anything of the like. Sick or not during his 3yo year, that takes zero away from Precious Bunny.
But if you ask HOD drivers and trainers who saw both, experts in the sport who saw both -- would Artsplace or Precious Bunny make it onto your top 3 of the last 30 or so years, it would be a lopsided poll.

Precious Bunny was all juiced up by Robinson all year and Artsplace was great, no contest-i have never disputed that
my point exactly is that few would rather discuss 1991--that year doesnt make Artsplace fans all warm and fuzzy inside
i saw them both live a few times against eachother
the Artsplace was " sick" holds less water than "Bunny was juiced up"
-
Albatross at RR was in A-2 and won as a 2yo
Overcall winner of 21 or 22 straight against Rum Customer, Fulla Napoleon and the like
Un De Mai beat Fresh Yankee several times and parked the mile and drew away from Nevele Pride
-
Silver Almahurst in Levy leg at YR 1993.
Somebeachsomewher e at YR in a typhoon.
Need help with a third...

A little sick vs a jittle juice makes a lot of difference.

ITS TRUE. FARRINGTOM HAD SOMETHING LIKE 40 ELEPHANT JUICE POSITIVES AND ALOT OF THEM WERE ON RAMBLING WILLIE. LANGLEY AND DOC SWEPT THOSE UNDER THE CARPET BECAUSE THEY DIDNT WANT TO TARNISH THEIR IMAGE AT THE TIME.

Dancer and Farrington certainly did not spare the whip. Juice or not , was always excited to see the Rambler come to Scioto. Nice clips Albatross tmbz1

It's kind of amazing that in amongst all these POSITIVE POSTS that refer to great horses you have seen, there is one dip shit that finds it necessary to have something NEGATIVE to say about a great race horse like Rambling Willie when it doesn't even concern the topic. Puts this guy in perspective. :P

Did Silver Almahurst dead heat for win in that race?
I remember a very exciting race in the early 90's where another horse who's name eludes me was 3 wide the last 1/2 mile of the race and still dead heated SA for win.

I still have a magazine or program from that time and that phrase was the lead in to the article.
" The horse that God loved ".
One of these days I will dig thru my old junk and find it.
I still have a bunch of the giveaways from RR, orange baseball cap, orange seat cushion, and orange helmet all with the RR logo plus a bunch of other items from that track including a head number from a race.
