Title: John Podres at the Meadowlands
Post by: SeattleSlew on December 24, 2023, 04:51:34 AM
If I am not mistaken this is Johnny Podres' son.  Johnny was the hero of the 1955 Dodgers' World Series Win and was voted MVP for the Dodgers' finally not having to "wait till next year."  I purchased Podres' World Series ring back in the mid 1990's (when I collected sports memorabilia) and then sold it about 10 years later, as it was huge and I really couldn't wear it (even with a ring guard.)  YES, pitchers have large hands.  I (and clearly the buyers at the auction I sold it at) considered this to be one of the top (if not the top) piece of Brooklyn Dodger memorabilia as it was the MVP of the World Series' ring from their iconic, finally won, World Series in 1955.  To relate it back to trainer John Podres (from upstate NY, about 15 minutes south of Lake George).. supposedly Johnny Podres sold all of his memorabilia in 1996 so that, at least in part, he could provide some $$ support to John in his pursuit of being a harness horse trainer (probably including buying some horses.)  Had never noticed him at ML or YR before tonight.

HORRIBLE!!! Sent a few horses to Chicago in the 90’s and they were trash.
