They had a pretty substantial increase -- not joking -- but numbers tell where work needs to be done.
For the meet the
daily avg - $230k
off track avg - 216k
on track avg - 14k or about 6% wagered on track.
Based on off track kicking back 5% to the track and lets say 18% of on track
10,800 + 2,520 = $13,320 to cover purses and expenses on a nightly basis.
NEED MORE ON TRACK HANDLE

Weather is problem for them, it does affect on track. Especially in the late fall. Buffalo seems to have a better on track even in the winter.
-
Buffalo doesn't have the proper equipment for snow removal. When they were winter racing at the raceway lots and lots of cards were canceled. Very frustrating for the horse people and the seven patrons who attended regularly in person.

not mentioned is how much of that handle is rebated?
that cuts into what the track really gets

Nothing like Batavia on a cold snowy winter night.
I used to borrow my girlfriend car ( now my wife for a few decades) to get there.
Pre-Otbs and home betting. I cannot imagine people risking those drive anymore.
And the Hamburg snow squalls were impossible.
Tough winter circuit
