Stupid old man should be sent to Bellvue on a 5150 hold. It's 1 thing to be a lifetime $1 exacta box player but this guy don't add shit to this awesome site. If we gotta read his bullshit nonsense old man drivel another day it might cost 100s of loyal readers + guys who want fun not crackpot mumbo jumbo. Just sayin
-
'Perhaps' a lil over saturation on his behalf, but sounds more than a bit extreme.
-
He probably just learned how to use the computer and now it's the only thing keeping him going. Let him be...
-
Where does it say you gotta read it? Fug's got 40 plus years of hands-on knowledge. Believe it or not the sport didn't start the day you were born.
-
Someone with true racing experience is exactly what is needed around here! Fugs is o.k. in my book! Ya start pruning a tree with the branches that don't provide any fruit! Fugs is battle tested!
-
Leave the poor guy alone most things he posts is right on and he makes for a good story he is better then most bullshit on here.
-
fuggi is ok
he aint going no where
-
Fuguzzi is fine. He has an opinion just like everyone else.
-
He's fine. Very knowledgeable. Has good stories etc.
Nothing wrong with the man unless he starts talking politics, LOL
-
Fug, is a good man, and has a lot of first hand knowledge and remembrances of somethings forgotten. Personally I enjoy his take on all subjects harness racing, and will defend the position he adds to this quorum.

Another pro Fuggsie fan here. I don't agree with him sometimes, but he's sincere and passionate. The real deal. 74zac.1

Are you serious?? How long have you been on horseplop?? This is ‘amateur hour’ compared to many things that went on horseplop over the years!!
-
He's a loudmouth loser / never was who cries like a wuss. Maybe if he didn't want to keep living in 1956 he'd be a better member of horseplop.
Odds are he'll stroke out in the next 6 months so maybe giving him the boot is a,little extreme.
He definitely might keel over when he sees that 64% of voters won't pick the future felon Trump. Ouch!
-
Fuguzzi is good man, amd good plopper. He has a lot of insight and stories to share, always respectful to everyone, unless instigated.
If you don't like what he, or anyone else has to say, don't read it. Pretty simple
-
What an a-hole sounding off on my guy Fugazzi. I have learned an awful lot from his posts because as just a past owner he brings a lot of perspectives that I never thought about. This is a board of opinions and we should respect all opinions except those from the occasional bigot that we see. Keep going Fug!!

There were many ‘bigots’ in the past on horseplop and still a few of them still here. Welcome to horseplop—-things don’t change!!!
-
Fuguzzi is a sharp as they come, you’d like to know what he’s forgotten. I love reading his stories. Very informative not the usual bullshit on here.
The man’s been around I respect that. I’ve been on this site for quite a while. I only have respect for a few people and he’s one of them.
So keep up your posts Fuguzzi!
-
Fug is ok I don't agree with him about Carmine Abbatiello but most of the other stuff he is spot on
-
Let me say up front, I have no idea what prompted this user's remarks concerning me as we have never communicated on here, nor have I ever seen a post by him before today in my relatively short time on here.
Now, I must admit he is right about one thing. I should have been committed to Bellevue Hospital years ago, according to my wife. But she feels that way about all of us "harness people".
I love being on here but don't need it keep busy as it was alleged. LOL. Cryptic hint here - I still work full time and have endless green stuff and a menagerie of 2 and 4 legged creatures who depend on me to live.
I wrestled with addressing his silly comments at all to be honest, but after reading all of the very nice and quite frankly, caring things said about me from all of my new online friends, I felt I had to respond. I want to say a very sincere thanks you to all who responded in support of me and who recognize my motivation and what I try to bring to the site. I do miss the game every single day and at 60 and young and healthy enough to rejoin it again on some level. Who knows.
I had heard years ago the site was really "nasty" so I avoided it. Then, given the diverse crop of 3 year olds that were about to come out, I decided to give it another look, figuring it would be away to talk about Harness Racing past, present and future. Can't do that with Mrs. Fuguzzi and have lost contact with others, so it was a way to talk racing again. Ironically, the very first post I ever read on here was from Sen. Blutarsky. But, I got hooked anyway! ;D
Again, to all of you who had insightful and supportive things to say about me, I must tell you I waqs really moved and Thank You all again!
Ps. I do promise no more political comments from me when those topics work their way on here - not the forum for it! And no upside there
Take care everyone,
Fuguzzi

Something else I def. should have mentioned. Theo kindly said that as an owner "he learned a lot from me, a horse person". I want to say in reciprocation to Theo and EVERYONE, I have learned so much from all of you! Relationships, breeding, what's going on, stories from your past experiences. Not excluding anyone, but shout out to Thorn - bevy of info. Gen X seems to know the entire world. Jidge and Mike Campbell - cool to share trainer stuff with. Mailbox money and Swank Toliver A - great Medaowlands stuff. Gotta mention Kooter and seattle Slew, Wiseowl, Old guy, Remington ( careful, or I'll steal your whip )
Really everybody adds so much! Apologies to anyone I didn't shout out to!
-
How bout mentioning Life Sign only once in like every ten posts though? ngc3
-
I love Fuguzzi! I'd love him even more if he gave me a winner!!!!! LOL!

Amen.
-
Fuguzzi is a great horseplopper who knows his shit. So fucken what were all old. The guy is brilliant and has the best stories of the good old days of harness racing. Rock on fuguzzi
-
I love Fuguzzi! I'd love him even more if he gave me a winner!!!!! LOL!
I'd give you more winners if I had em. I know I am outside the mainstream on here, but I truly don't gamble anymore. In fact, I've only made 2 bets on racing all year. 1 Up Your Deo/Oh Well exacta box for 50 in Hambo. I am headed for the windows deep stretch until Scotty Z. does his Moses impression and parts the seas. Loser
2 Mammamia Volo - Start of the win streak at 12-1 25w/25p - she rumbles home for the victory - Winner so i am 1 for 2 for the year!
But believe me I sure used to bet. Plenty of nights I did better in the grandstand than on the racetrack. Plenty not. As some of my older friends will attest to, there was so much more value in WPS, DD, EXacta that you didn't have to go around shopping for implied value, such as Supers, Take 5s, looking for Carryovers, etc - nothing wrong with that stuff mind you and i respect you guys who know how to bet into those things. Just too exasperating for me. I just was brought up on hearing about a live horse from a good barn, putting down a couple hundred to win and if things worked out, getting 4, 5, 6 to 1 or better. Not 2.60 on a NW 2 lifetime in a 6 horse field at Monti with Mike Merton. Funny thing is in those days there was always an "international tip or two" that reverberated all over the racetrack from the track kitchen to the paddock to the mutuel tellers in the grandstand and still somehow, if it won the horse always paid at least 2 - 1. Musta been the big pools. Some of you may remember an owner named Norman Brill who owned all the "Bells" horses. In those days he was involved in a conspiratorial group of drivers and trainers whose goal was to take out %40 percent of the early DD pool as often as they could . Back then you were talking $30 to $40k. And so it went!
Again, Thanks to all 73cv.2

Didn’t Norman Duplaise train for Brill?
-
Norman took a ton of money out of the windows.
-
Didn’t Norman Duplaise train for Brill?
He ncertainly did. But I feel very late 70s/early80s I vaguely remember him being with a large public barn like a Regan or Meittinis and Herve driving for him. It was Rejean who told me "brill is trying to take out the Double every night" So long ago, I just feel like there were other barns besides Dauplaise.
-
Norman lived in Benny DeFonce's cellar when he first came to NY
-
OH WOW! Now there is a name from antiquity Ben Defonce. Geez. Amazing how vast your store of info is.
-
Shame there isn't a nostalgia forum for all those stories. Oh wait there is 11.wp

It was Stu Dorfman. He was at the BIgM in a barn adjacent to mine when I was grooming. He had several Brill horses with him at the time. He had some crazy stories. Funny guy, Stu.

I'll attest to it. So much dead money before slots and simulcasting. You could make a living by betting back then without knowing anyone who had "inside info". I had to quit the betting part when the dead money disappeared and didn't even bother with the "sport" for 20 years. When I did come back about a dozen years ago I was appalled at the pools and the way odds changed after the bell. No way to make any money without dumb luck nowadays IMO.
Shame there isn't a nostalgia forum for all those stories. Oh wait there is 11.wp
Yes and in truth very few bother to go over there. Some of the same topics but no bullshit.

Do you remember Brill used a Hungarian trainer around 84 or so George Geigl?
-
Hey fuzzy I knew Normans man that did his betting. His name was Andy. Knew him and Benny very well.
-
OH WOW! Now there is a name from antiquity Ben Defonce. Geez. Amazing how vast your store of info is.
Benny …a great guy.
-
Do you remember Brill used a Hungarian trainer around 84 or so George Geigl?
You are correct. George Geigl. WOW!! A name that totally escaped me till you brought it up.
-
Benny was a great guy couldn't train a dog to bark. Iam pretty sure he trained for Carmine at one time. The only reason he was in the horse business was Carmine and Norman and his real job was hanging sheetrock.

How many more topics is this old goat going to run right off the rails? The administration guy put up a question and this clueless goof is talking about some obscure schnook from 50 years ago.

Come on man Fugman is a good guy and great horseplopper. Has tons of experience and always offers good perspective from then and now times in harness racing. I can relate to him. Just saying.

Why don't you read clearly It was Remington who brought up Hughy Bell Not me So we kidded each other going back and forth into antiquity. If i choose to stay on the site is up to me. there are some good people on here, I enjoy talking to daily, but it is really becoming a drag thanks to a handful of people. It's like there are 4 or 5 guys on here in desperate need of a blowjob...

Fug...IGNORE the aXXholes!! You are genuine and while I am about 20 years your senior we DID cross paths over time and you add a lot of substance with both your current, informed observations and your remembrances of what happened in the 90's, 90's etc.
-
TY Slew, not sure i am a "genius, but I appreciate your words. I have fun and smile 95% percent of the time on here, but there a handful who wanna jump on every word i say like I am an idiot or it' heresy. I do say some controversial things, BECAUSE I BELIEVE IN THEM. I also want to hear what normal, intelligent people with a trove of experiences of their own have to say. Take Clint, my feelings about him are VERY WELL documented and I get the fact that some people will be like "OMG what a jerk, Fuguzzi, Is. Clint had Niatross. Blah, blah, blah.......But consider, Herve who was a very good natured man, said reflecting on Clint's career, "clint didn'y make Niatross, Niatross made him" and I feel the same way. I love the back and forth on here, but the angry people and name callers have to be IGNORED ;D
-
That’s where your ass shows. Is someone else would have had Niatross he just might not have been. Maybe training down as a baby he came up sore and Clint backed off on him. There’s a lot of decision trainers make that effect a horse career before they ever hit the track, don’t have to tell you cause am sure you knew that. End result which know can dispute is Niatross was the greatest horse to ever look thru a bridle .
Sure he got his blood pulled at midnight too.
-
Or how bout the topic..'Most overrated catch driver'..He has 15 posts[of 37] ..the last talking about a horse...Right off the rails

In the good ole days of horseplop, admin just bounced people who they didn't like regardless who instigated things. I'm glad horseplop has changed over the years!

Normally I don't weigh in on this stuff but last I checked, Brent Holland has won around 6,000 races. I think he had the trifecta of being leading driver of the meet at Maywood and Hawthorne in his career (not sure about Balmoral too). This year his drives are good for $3,000,000+ in purses.
Now, this Fuguzzi is an admitted ex-groom who sez he worked in Illinois, yet nobody ever heard of him. He's never won a dash. He's never trained a single winner. He don't bet anymore (did he ever really?).
Another sad sack internet know-it-all who passes judgment on those who have sustained success in this tough business.
Brent won in Ohio (Lebanon) before coming to IL. He wins at the highest overnight purse track in the sport.
I'm admittedly biased because I cashed dozens of times on BH driven longshots. I've caught him at over a $50 mutuel at Maywood and Hawthorne a few times. At Balmoral, twice at over $72! This doesn't even account for all the $10-$20 horses he drove like they were 3/5 shots every step of the mile.
I'm not wasting my time arguing with a never was; just giving credit where credit is due.
BRENT HOLLAND OWES ME NOTHING! IF ANYTHING, I OWE HIM FOR THE BIG WINNERS HE GOT HONE WITH MY $$$ ON THEM!
-
I'm so glad nobody wants to get rid of me. I can feel the love from the Polp community.
