The 3rd race, he better jump in and get cooled off. 1/9 off the board over 12k on show pool on this one.

As I wrote in a previous thread regarding show bridge jumpers, you have to be a moron to risk so much for such a little return. If you want 5% buy a money market fund at Charles Schwab, SWVXX, for a 5.24% return. A hell of a lot safer.p

Probably money laundering

It's the action they want...5 oervrnt is easy

Bingo we have a winner. Ain’t nobody with that kind of money betting it on harness racing without some type of angle or ulterior motive. Trying to lose on purpose to blow up the tote board and write it off.

I dont think you bet the 1-9 shot if you are "trying to lose on purpose" lol.

I haven’t looked in a bit. If using ADW. What kind of rebate can you get these days. If you bet say $100k a month

Yes, they want the 2:10.

Telly - safer yes, but that 5% money market return you are comparing to is based upon an annual return. Yes, a safe investment of $10,000 on day one into a money market will earn you $500 in interest 365 days later. Nothing wrong with that, respectable!
Now let's say our mythical speculator is so shrewd that he can invest $10,000 per day for 365 straight days, and never lose a show bet on that one prop bet he makes per day. Well in this fantasy world his $2.10 payoff per $10,000 bet will earn him $182,500 in income over the same 365-day period on his original $10,000 principal. That's a 1,825% return on investment. Yes, pure fantasy! Somewhere along the line he will get buried.
Perhaps more realistic in fantasy world is that this "speculator" is not happy with receiving a 5% annual return in an annual money market and says to himself that for the risk of losing my entire $10,000 investment, I want to achieve a 70% return ($7,000 profit) in a short period of time. Here it's maybe doable. All he has to do is hit 14 straight show bets at $10,000 per pop and he'll achieve his 70% return in no more than 14 days of investing (if not less). Risk versus Reward. Food for thought.

Is indeed food for thought. Only legitimate guarantee the Duke of Hornby will ever give out on here is this clown will be eating generic cheese filled chicken franks soon for dinner rather than Kobe filet mignon. ngc3

Not sure about ADW, but many tracks dont give rebates or points on $2.10 payoffs.
