$225,000 for this yearling filly seems likely.
-
$ 355,000
-
$425k
I predict silly stupid high prices --- and why not this one ;D
-
DO we hear $500,000?
-
$285,000. to 330,000.

A nice commission is coming for the sales company on this one.........more money doesn't guarantee success. Over the last five years at the Standardbred Horse Sale there have been 43 horses which sold for $300,000 or more and to date (as of 10/30/22) just six have earned over their purchase price. Of course that includes a group of horses from ages 2 through 6, so the younger horses haven't had the same opportunity as the older ones, but the bottom line is 14 percent have produced a "profit" over time, not including the cost of board and training.
-
Price is going to depend a lot on how she looks as an individual not just who she is. I'd be willing to bet that whatever she costs they change her name. Caroline Kountry does not ring any bells for me.
-
estimate $250 but it could get crazy just because of who she was
i think some people will back off based on her maternal pedigree
no disputing her ability on the track though

Very sobering stats...and especially the part about not including the cost of board, training (and one can add transportation, staking and vet.) If you buy a big ticket yearling, from the day the hammer falls till mid-year of the 3 year old year (when you really know if you have something), can take you $100,000 easily if you run the horse in stakes etc.

Look at the Flop Detour Hanover was.

I'll say 475k
-
I’ll say $210. For often than not great mates don’t live up to the standard of what they think they should be Especially mares who have raced as long and as hard as she had. Not to mention she’s a Tintin in America mare.
-
317016....to be exact
-
we saw her the other day up front and pesonal
she flawless
650 to 700k my pic

Let's have a contest to guess how much it earns.

Let's have a contest to guess how much it earns.
Gut feeling she sells around 350k. Gut feeling she doesn't live up to the hype.
-
$575,000 minimum
-
Prices will be high. If she looks great I say 450,000

Who she is ?? shartin was a great race mare but other than her, the pedigree reader has nothing to talk about.
2 nd dam has had 6 foals 1 brother made $12,855 rest never raced
3 rd dam 7 foals , 2 winners totaling $36,000
And it foes on for 2 more dams
When Shartins write up takes 1/3 of a page and it takes 4 more dams to barely fill the page it adds up in my book to Shartin being a freak. A nice freak but still a freak..
time will tell if she is a broodmare or not…
-
No more than $200k
-
RNA or No Sale

She has this one by Capt. Treacherous and her 2nd was by Capt. Treacherous also; however in 2023 she was bred to Capt. Midnight ($5000 stud fee in Indiana). If they felt they could get $500,000+ for her foal(s), I don't see why they would "downbreed" her so starkly? Perhaps it is because Captain Midnight also stands at Cobbitty (NSW, Australia) and they also send frozen semen to NZ... so perhaps they are hoping to find some big $$ buyers from down under??

Only because the same Amish guy Ola Yoder that owns Shartin also owns Capt Midnight, trying to make his stud and he doesn’t really need to make any money at this
-
Who is Ola Yoder?
The present owner.
-
Yes Ola Yoder, Kountry Lane
-
Does Shartin do what she did on the racetrack if Timmy didn't drive AND own a piece of her? Was this really the product of Jimmy King's skill, training and horsemanship?

What did he pay for her?...........A similar search in 2022 for the Lexington Selected sale using $400,000 as the magic price found 28 horses sold for that number over the last five years and only one horse – Chestnut Hill ($622,189) – earned over his selling price. That group includes seven 2-year-olds who haven't earned money yet and could mature over the winter, and a pair of six-figure winners in Ari Ferrari J and Walner Payton, who is actually just $2,232 short of her $510,000 cost. For the record, the average return on the track has been just over $92,000 per yearling off an average selling price of $560,535.
-
You shouldn’t be posting stuff like that just before the sale
-
May be around $100,000 a little week on her dams side your taking a chance lots of good race mare never made broodmares.
-
Forget worrying about the dam side. It's an EGO day for the wealthy when these types of horses become available. I feel she'll bring at least $450,000. Especially when eligible for KY and as a future broodmare.
-
Final Sale price will be 330k

Pretty incredible stat and shows what a crap shoot the baby sales are. You should do this for babies over 100k. I bet it's similar.

Facts....let the buyer beware! Yearlings are WAY overpriced--------2019: Trotting colt Maverick became the highest-priced yearling in harness racing history, selling for $1.1 million. The Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavilion erupted in cheers Tuesday (Oct. 1) when the hammer fell and trotting colt Maverick became the highest-priced yearling in harness racing history, selling for $1.1 million on the opening night of the Lexington Selected Sale.“You look at the breeding, and you look at what Greenshoe has done; this colt was perfect,” said Brad Grant, who will be part of the horse’s ownership group. “He was as nice looking an athlete as you would want to see, and I think he’s worth EVERY cent."----------ask Brad Grant NOW what the horse IS worth. What lunatics, no matter how wealthy they are, would spend this amount of money on a harness horse? The Thoroughbred owners are even worse! Remember this from 4 years ago at Lexington? I give you......MAVERICK! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdphXOc80ww How much would they get for him on the ONGAIT.com website now?

This yearling is out of a great racemare, not a great broodmare! Breeding could not be worse on the dams side! Someone will way overpay.

I will never be convinced that Shartin was racing on natural abilities, so that makes me believe that there are others who may feel that way also. With that said my guesses will be the filly will fetch 265k & earn less than 100k at 2 !
-
Agreed, there are a lot of counterfeit mares out there.

hip 440 will bring 450-500K

Shartin was good when Tetrick had the juice and King was using it. But now that the Fishman boat has sailed it's back to reality as the numbers prove it. As soon as Lyons Bros pull their stock Jimmy will be back in good ole Harrington/Dover full time racing in overnighters. It was a good run for those years but welcome home Jimmy.

If 40 Horseplop reg.s put up 10k each, we would have 400k to go to the sale with. We could name the foal SCM!

With all the Indians who he has riled up, she may just be safer with the name she has! ngc3

Will Hen Party's first foal go for more than Shartin N's? https://www.lexingtonselected.com/pdf/2023/Hen%20Party.pdf VIDEO: http://www.bestdamnhorsevideos.com/horses/4562?sr=1http://www.bestdamnhorsevideos.com/horses/4562?sr=1 If you were given the choice between the two of these for your own, which one would you take?

Speaking of breeding to great race mares, so far Krispy Apple has been a COMPLETE bust! https://www.lexingtonselected.com/pdf/2023/Krispy%20Apple.pdf

Was Oakes, Allard, Surick and the rest of the Fishman gang "Nailed"?
-
Well gang, tomorrow will be here shortly and all of the consignors cannot wait to sell their goods! Will the gross top last year? Probably. It won't be long to know once Shartin N's foal sells as a barometer of what is to come! Will any yearling top $1 million this year? Let the madness begin! .........Last year’s Lexington Selected Yearling Sale obliterated 16 records, including new standards for gross ($65,289,000), average ($73,690), median ($46,500) and number of yearlings sold for $100,000 or more (196). The gross exceeded the previous record ($56,692,500 in 2021) by more than $8.5 million or 15 per cent.
-
I’m thinking $325 on Shartin yearling
-
See You At Peelers sold nothing that did that much until a daughter threw Geocentric
my prediction of this filly out of Shartin N is that she won't earn her cost by the end of her 3 year old racing season
video looks great but the page is light in my opinion
-
You are correct Andy. The price will be based 100% on her on track performance, not on her bloodline results on paper. We will know by 8:30pm tomorrow night the result.
-
Hen Party went real cheap. We will see what happens with Shartin N's foal shortly.
-
Going big!..I 'll raise mine to 800K
-
$800K for any yearling is ridiculous. You need $1 million in purses won just to break even! The breeders love these morons. Hip 48 from Mission Brief has done nothing so far with her first 3 foals and this one will could very well be the 4th bust.
-

Great point, how many horses earn 1 million/ number sold each year, is that % possibility, I’m not sure if that Math makes sense I only graduated 8th grade

Did she sell yet?

145 Super low

JESUS//140K

She did have 4 legs?

WOW! My original bid at $225K was the closest but nowhere near what we thought. The NZ breeding is NOT well received here.

something wrong that everybody noticed on her ..\\

Paying that much for a yearling is just setting you up for future failure.

Easy deductions. She has zero pedigree, raced her guts out till she was 6-7yrs old, and everyone knows shes was gassed to the gills by Josh Marks. Josh Marks associated with a broodmare is the kiss of death. Not one top race mare he has been associated with has ever thrown a thing.

Damn does Josh Marks gas every good horse? Don’t know the guy but damn seems that every good horse is some how tied to Josh
-
Hunterton and partners not only bred Mission Brief, they have retained her as a broodmare. Hunterton’s Steve Stewart said Mission Brief is, “the gift that keeps on giving... Going into the sale, we thought that she was a very, very nice filly. We knew that there’s not many Gimpanzees and people like to buy first crops.
“The mare is just amazing. She’s sold yearlings for $400,000, $725,000, $550,000 and now $800,000. That has got to be some kind of record.”---------the first 3 made only $88,000-----$29,000-----not racing at 2-----and now this one! Melander bought the last 3 for $2 million for his owners and so far their return on their MORONIC investments have been $117,000!!!!! Define insanity? Saying they retain value as broodmares is nonsense as they won't get back their cash outlay for their future foals if their records on track show little. Mission Brief looks like a BUST as a broodmare for the prices her yearlings are commanding.
-
WOW! My original bid at $225K was the closest but nowhere near what we thought. The NZ breeding is NOT well received here.
That NZ breeding for her is beyond awful. Many of them now are way better than that, especially now there are mares by all the top US stallions and 10 million Bettor's Delight mares down there.
As an example I read like as of 5 or 6 years ago there were 125 winners who were Bettor's Delight sons and daughters out of Christian Cullen mares.
This from 2020
Harness racing's greatest breeding cross – Bettor's Delight over a Christian Cullen mare – has proven time and time again that it is the most potent cross in the harness racing breeding world today.
Lazarus heads the charge with over $4 million in the bank. His dam is Bethany by Christian Cullen.
Next on the list is Chicago Bull ($1,744,430), his dam is Chicago Blues by Christian Cullen.
Then there is Ohoka Punter ($1,177,323) his dam is Millwood Minisota by Christian Cullen.
The list goes on and on with the likes of Highview Tommy ($990,015), The Fixer ($1,055,693), Spanish Armada ($787,470), Belle Of Montana ($587,501), Self Assured (2,155,469), None Bettor, Wrappers Delight, Elle Mac, Amazing Dream, Better B Amazed, No Doctor Needed, Seaswift Joy, Another Masterpiece, Heisenberg, Ashley Locaz and Chase The Dream.
This cross Bettor's Delight over a Christian Cullen mare has resulted in over $20 million in progeny earnings world wide to date (2020)

FYI
The fillies name has been changed to August Moon,
and now owned by Richard Poillucci,
South Eastion, MA.
I looked her up because I had guessed she would be a no sale.
I am wrong again!
Good thing I have not made a bet in thirty years!
-
Alagna signed for her at the sale. His buyers probably don't like her and Poillucci bought her just because he owned Shartin.
I was right that they would change her name but that was to be expected.
-
The number was right. First and foremost, zero pedigree. Zero residual value. This filly sold as an individual. That's it. And that's about the yearling average for Captaintreacherou s (I think his 2023 in Lexington was under $120k). After that, all circumstantial and nothing to cause this filly to sell for big bux. Not a major-league, big-name, accomplished consignor. Relatively new consignor, and no consistent history of selling high-price, big-ticket yearlings. They do OK for newbies, but when you average $60k at the premier sale in the world, you aren't selling a no pedigree filly for several hundred thousand. Buyer-wise, nobody was "on her" and there were no suckers to sucker. I saw the filly at the farm and the sale. Good individual. Not great, not stand-out. Good. She seemed like a natural, showed well, walked well, was patient, and so on. She did seem like a seasoned yearling, one who was handled a lot and well by the farm. No surprise Richard ended up with her. He marches to the beat of his own drum.
-
he owned shartin and of course made hugr dollars racing and then selling her
so to buy her first foal out of captain not a huge stretch
-
Shartin had alot of frog juice. They can't pass down the chemicals in their systems, only the natural abilities!

Josh Marx must have Alien technology! This guy is at 7 or 8 places to treat horses every day of racing and in 2 countries to boot! If you're riding along with him, your ass best be in the seat when his door closes or you're walking home! ngc3
