Title: Makes no sense
Post by: Hush Limbaugh II on September 18, 2023, 05:02:31 PM
18 horses in for the Jug. So they go with 3 six horse fields. Then for next heat they go with 9, which means there is a trailer. If there is no bias on the 1/2 mile track as Mr Huston suggested today on the broadcast why not go with 9 horses in 2 heats, take the first 4 from both heats to determine the next heat  11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp

Makes too much sense.I sure would love to see how many will like the idea of a trailer on a 1/2. Bet no one in the Confederate camp is upset about not going to the jug. 3rd elim looks like a pretty good look at the final.

Can Its My Show step around Cannibal from the 2 hole or be forced to sit a pocket. I would love to see Stockade Seelster win the whole thing personally. Great connections and the horse has shown he has endurance and can take air.

Look at this with an open mind.

Racing horses is supposed to be a combination of many variables  11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp

1. Talent of the horse
2. Trainer talent
3. Driver talent
4. Why should the draw dictate who wins before the race goes
5. 1/2 mile tracks are VERY hard on joints
6. You can over drive one on a 1/2 and win
7. Try over driving one on a big track and see what happens

Doesn't happen on a 1/2  11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp

Very true. You can bottom out a field on a half. Trying to do it on a mile track is usually a disaster.

1  I'm not sure what you are truing to say

2 Big track racing today is very similar to small track racing

3 speed kills

Front end on a half wins way more than on a mile track.

True. On a half the leaders dictate to the rest of the field. 1/2 mile tracks to tight for big moves, especially North field

Of course you both are essentially correct. I was simply saying these days you need to be up near the speed on any sized track. Also seems like there are far fewer live flows of cover. Also you don't see those large sweeping charges to the wire that you did in the glory days, regardless of track size. They were so exciting. I feel like I see more of the races I am talking about when I watch Canadian racing.

Yes you see it at Mohawk, and on occaission sweeping charges at meadowlands and red mile, maybe in the day at hoosier. otherwise pretty lame cover.
