Does anyone know how the creative John Manzi is doing nowadays? In addition to being a terrific public relations person at Monticello for like 40 years, he used to spin oldies for a local radio show in Sullivan County. Always an approachable guy at the track who always answered the fans questions. Who else had camel races back when the track was great?

Think he still does oldies radio show.

John was a great PR guy, and when his run was ended you knew all you needed to know about the future of the live racing experience at Monticello.
There was a guy in the 80s who wanted to create a track in PA, I think it was to be called Stars & Stripes Downs. which basically was going to be a no fans allowed operation, I think most people at the time thought that was a crazy idea but if you look at Monti now it is pretty much what they have.

But I know of one race where John orchestrated a FIX. July 1981 Beasley Reece raced against Super Kris with my buddy Tommy Parcase in the bike.
Super Kris lost over 90 straight races. Beasley had a head start but not a running start. JM told Tommy to make sure he loses.
I guess I can share that after 3 decades.

John, sadly has not been the same since his wife passed several years ago.

I speak to John every few months. He's as sharp as ever, but has had some physical problems. I hope to see him when i go to the Monticello Bagel Festival in August.

Nice to hear Ty A very good man - never heard a bad word or scandal touch him.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I know JM no longer does his radio show. I hope he is enjoying his retirement in good health.
