Title: Please help me with this question...
Post by: Kirbys Ace on July 02, 2023, 07:43:07 PM
I think i asked this before but got no real answer and with all the new informed Plopsters someone might know....

I'm sure there's a answer to this question but I just can't figure out why all tracks with a website do not offer free programs online??

I would estimate that most of the track's handle on any given night is online. There's probably less than 10% who's on track attendance average is over 100 people.

How can it not help your handle? I emailed both Maryland tracks and not even a courteous reply.

Its just mind boggling to me.

SEEM TO ME THAT ONLINE PROGRAMS CAN ONLY BE A WIN/WIN FOR RACETRACKS. Why cheap out for pennies!

It only makes sense, to provide programs online to boost the pools/handle.
But then again,  most of those in charge at various tracks don't necessarily make decisions that make sense 🤷‍♀️

Race track management teams operate with a business model that is from the 70's.  The fact that technology has advanced and competition for the gambling dollar has increased a thousand fold is completely lost on them.

Of course it makes sense, that's why it doesn't happen.

Similarly, Most of the horse racing betting sites charge a $5 deposit fee. None of the sports wagering sites charge any fees. If the small guy with $20 wants to make a play I can see him choosing sports so he can bet the full $20 and not lose $5 off the top.

My ADW which is horse racing only charges $1.75 for a Trackmaster condensed program and if you bet 2 dollars on the card they refund it the next day.

Because the greedy casino's think without the $250 a card they get selling them they're going to be broke. They don't want you to handicap at  home incase you don't like anything you see!

Harness industry in general just does not give a fuck about fans at all and is stuck in archaic culture that might have been wrong but acceptable in 1960s and 70s .  I get that theres a lot of sore losers who complain and cant ever be satisfied. But industry i stuck in past. It in part is due to welfare $ but also eggregious lack of competance.  A chief criticism of social programs (public wel f are like TANF and Food Stampies) that in part sparked major and imho needed federal and state welfare overhaul of 1990s was that welfare $$ are like a drug. Some folks getting them tend to become complacent. An industry that isnt dependent on its performance naturally becomes archaic.

Ill give you example. I use two betting platforms. And folks on here know i churn a lot of $. One of these platforms wont allow me to transfer funds from my bank account without a 7 business day delay. Takes at least 10 days for an adh transfer. Credit card transfers are costly. Debit card limited in amt and have bank fees attached. So funding ur online acct often requires a trip to the track. Kinda fucking stupid. Funny thing, sportsbooks allow me to transfer as much as i want by immediate real time link to my bank account. Ive inquired but been politely dismissed.

AT HOOSIER RICK MOORE HAS SAID MANY TIMES THAT THEY HAVE 10 YEARS LEFT BEFORE THEY WILL BUILD THEIR OWN FREE STANDING CASINO AWAY FROM THE HORSES. HARRAHS HAS BEEN WANTING TO DECOUPLE AND GET AWAY FROM HORSERACING FOR ABOUT FIVE YEARS NOW. ITS GOING TO HAPPEN, JUST A MATTER OF TIME. THEN THE TRACKS AND HORSEMANS ASSOCIATIONS WILL EITHER GET THEIR SHIT TOGETHER AND PROMOTE THE SPORT OR CLOSE UP SHOP AND HARNESS RACING WILL GO BACK TO THE 1900'S WITH ONLY RACING COUNTY FAIRS FOR A TROPHY AND BLANKET.

If u have an HPI account to bet Mohawk, Flamboro, etc then ALL programs for Canadian tracks are free.
If u wager enough then USA tracks are also free.

Just a guess.
Maybe tracks sell exclusive rights to their On Line Programs to Trackmaster, with the stipulation that the track doesn't post for free what Trackmaster just paid for. Then Trackmaster sells online.
Maybe, Maybe not.
