watching saratoga harness races and coming away impressed by jack pelling's driving i know he has quality horses but he knows how to rate and when he has the horse to go first over i also have been impressed in his driving all this year he know what he is doing
-
He is a Pelling Please don't try to sell him to me
-
So he wins a Sire Stakes and an Excelsior with a couple 1-5 shots and you got him tabbed to be a great driver....he is Pelling sleaze by birth
-
watch i expected that from casual bettors and lookers the kid has talent look beyond the the quality of horses he gets watch him he has the instincts
-
Please dont refer to me as a casual bettor. I am 60 years old and have been around racing 50 years. I trained, did not drive, for almost 30 years Metro NY circuit. I have seen him drive, I have listened to his interviews. seems like a nice guy. But he is coming to driving late and with a silver spoon in his mouth. In his interviews he seems to be missing that "fire" in his gut. Admittedly, I have a personal dislike for his old man and his father, Brian from my midwest days in the 70s, so I am somewhat partial. They are all Croghan connected sleaze. I have paid my dues and then some in this business, so please dont think I am some casual bettor ranting on here. Just saying he is an ordinary driver, nothing more or less. Ganging up on Sire states with 1 - 5 shots doesnt prove talent, though it seemed to turn you on.

Jack Pelling at Harrah's Philly...WIN % 7.7 UDRS .185
-
Pelling no kid at the age of 28 and seems destined for a future of Freehold at best. Now a "kid" like Brett Beckwith at age 20 has far more upside than Pelling and the numbers don't lie.
-
agreed buddy
-
jack pelling is nothing special... anyone who thinks so has some sort
of conformation bias... if his name was brian smith you wouldnt even
have started this thread...
-
Totally agree. That's the point I was making to macdaddie

Plus Brett Beckwith has been taught better by his family and other horsemen at Saratoga.

This is a very true statement. Brett is a class act.

I raced with Bert, John and Mel Beckwith in New England 70s and 80s. I remember they had a hard hitting older trotter in those days named Mr. Nashua. Very sad when Bert took his life at a young age over a woman.
-
Lol lol lol. Yes Brett a good driver and may or may not be better. And Brett learned from a good family.. but I guess learning from the greatest trainer to ever sit behind one in the history of the sport means zero ? Lol lol great post lol

Are you trying to say Brett pelling is the greatest trainer in the history of the sport? If you are you need your head examined.
-
100 percent.....but just for laughs who us your 1 pic
-
On a serious note one of the all time great trainers with staggering percentage stats in the history of our sport is in my opinion is Robert McIntosh
-
He was or is good....but.takei ng nothing away I stand by my view Brett greatest to ever sit behind one....
-
Just another juicer from the croghan school like kesmodel ,harder, norman and on and on

So you would put Brett Pelling ahead of Stanley Dancer who is the greatest harness horseman ever, Del Miller and Billy Haughton?
-
Typical reply......but ok
-
You do know that he tubed everything and used morphine and despite what he might say wasnt he deported back to australia starting his 11 year hiatus?
-
How much can be said about an almost 30 year old driver / trainer that makes less money than the shopping cart retriever with down syndrome at my local Publix supermarket! ngc3 ngc3 ngc3
