basically a who is who of all the expensive ones sold last year
ake going to leave mellander in his dust and his owners making phone calls
-
At least 3 million in horses for team mellander.
Nothing beats 59.3
Gross
-
round 3
Ake still throwing Haymakers
Mellander just hopping around the ring
-
Let's see at the end of the year, they don't show it all the first or second baby races. If they do, most times they don't finish the year well.
-
Like ake, mellander all out everytime on track
-
I wonder how many of the $300K plus babies actually turn a profit in their career?
-
still waiting for both million plus babies to be heard from, Damien and Maverick
-
Mellander had 11 baby race today
Nothing trotted 59.3 yet still
-
Very ugly lines besides the slow times
Even worse than i expected, and I had low expectations
-
Speaking of expensive babies and maverick
Where are all the tony alagna winners?
-
I see 1-800 was supposed to go this morning and didn't. Not a baby, but a super talent with tons of issues.
-
lots of big money purchases didn't look too good
-
How about the big buck babies that we don’t see ?
-
How about the big buck babies that we don’t see ?
A third of those sold usually don’t make the track
-
you hear about the great ones, never the useless ones, I would love to see how much the owners have lost after all bills on Oneeighthundred
-

What's the obsession with 1800 and his price?
Pick one of the dozen today that avg about 300k. That 3.6 million paid for alot of 15 claimers
-
If you play the big money baby game
1. Ake
2. Per
3 Ronnie
4. Linda
5. Nifty
If you are giving mellander a horse over any of these connections you are nuts and will go broke buying up the bs
-
One last thought before this downfall fully plays out...
First off, they will Blame greenshoe, secondly
They will rape owners plain and simple..they took about 10 high priced father Patrick's after they swore no more fp"s on the barn.
But hey if your going to pay them, then sure, they love the horse
-
Alagna has no starters in na cup
Wow
-
if the pattern stays alot of them will be racing there first couple of racesd at pocono to test them out both ake and marcus did that with several 3 yr old this year
-
Linda is the best value, doesn't get the massively high priced one's and does a great job
-
Alagna has no starters in na cup
Wow
Alagna ??? How about the leading money winning trainer not having a horse on the NA card ??
-
Alagna ??? How about the leading money winning trainer not having a horse on the NA card ??
Has he had a winner since Ramona hill?? Seriously

I always look at earnings per start/ not earnings by stacking 100 horses at every track. And say what you want, but Melander's per start average is very high. But yes, I understand that doesn't calculate the ones that never make the track.

If you want to do money per start factor in his 80 qualifiers.
And whatever it is now, I'll take under from here.
He picked off a couple Nyss early . Bit when you are 400k in you need horses like bond or jiggy jog. Not 53 trotters
-
Here's the problem when you put 400k+ out for each horse.
You get ones like mirasol.
She finished second today in a very nice effort. Any owner would love to have one like this BUT for 20 to 30k.
I love second, but when you are 400k invested, you can't get run down by 1 for 30 types
-
so i know this thread is a mellander killer but the more i think about it alagna is just as guilty of wasting owners money.
even in the article today on the usta they pointed out what i already did. guy never has good horses...
here is the quuote from the end
"In addition to Captaintreacherou s, Alagna’s stars have included female trotter Ramona Hill, who beat the boys in the 2020 Hambletonian and was a two-time Dan Patch Award winner"
so as you can see it say STARS PLURAL, but then only lists one other good horse he has had.
i think she raced like 7 times....
just unreal how this rich owners get duped
-
guess its an easy game eh purple ??
most of the guys who pay that money have had numerous million dollar winners
they buy more or pay the tax man
-
Alagna burns a ton more than Melander.
-
Rumor has it that the operations have millions of dollars of expenses (purchase of horses, stakes payments, vet bills, travel expenses, et al) and more often than not {a few good horses excluded} only return pennies on the dollar back to their participants. The trainer and managing partner(s) don't lose out, the participants do. And yet these operations exist year after year. Amazing!

It's really not that hard. You need to care for the horses. Doesn't matter how fast they are or their bloodlines. When these guys get lucky then get 100 head they have no idea how to care for the horses anymore, yet owners just pile on like sheep with these 2 for some reason.
But like most things I point out, thus is the beginning of the end for both
-
Mellander do any good in NY last night as Nyssa? No
Check the expensive babies to go for both alagna and mellander this Saturday
Going to be alot of passed off owners
-
race 1, Club Med;
LYSITHEA, $200,000 yearling, 5th by 7, great Greenshoe purchase!!!
SADBIRDSTILLSING, $190,000 yearling, 4th
great purchases right out of the gate
-
Race 3, 250k Special Talent was a very ordinary 4rd
Race 5, 325k Volcanic Blue Chip was a last place 5th
Race 6, 510k Tandem Hanover was an ordinary 3rd
-
Race 14, Remember The Alamo, 300k, 6th by 8 lengths
-
Lets take this the other way for a minute. Horses worth remembering. There were a few horses that may end up top of their class this year. Trotters Soiree Hanover for Wallin and My Way for Melander are well bred and were tons the best today. For Pacers Takter has a ton. Booming Economy half bro to one eight hundred was tons bigger and stronger than the field today and filly Caviart Belle was vicious in her last quarter. Takter also showed up with Flawless, Ivy Park, Total Stranger all super well bred with fast brothers and sisters and the first foal of Medusa Stone Cold Treachery who had a lot of late pace in a fast last quarter. Takter should have a very big year at least with pacers.
-
Takter knows what to do with big money buys.
He's the real deal
These others....
-
love watching these babies go
i will wait a while before determining success or failure of first time 2 yr olds

MOST OF HER HORSES TODAY WERE VERY GOOD

Mandrill couldn't get by Amish horse today ngc3
-
Another tough night for team mellander with 5 starters at meadowlands amd nothing hitting the board.
Pretty soon sears will stop driving for them
-
Last night's checkless disaster rolled into this mornings 7. Yes 7 lackluster efforts.
All these megabread things 7 blah charts.
The one good one he has, air traffic, is his secondary owners. His top guys Courant have goose eggs
-
Theres always the classic turn them out to mature option. So why be in such a rush to race two year olds? level the field let them start 2 yr. old events in the fall. Not late Spring and summer.
-

the checkless disaster rolls on
biggest day at the red mile
0for 7 hitting the board
meanwhile ake goes 123 in the open trot
if u are a big owner and still giving this guy horses you wont be a big owner much longer
-
ake is king of the trotters, no doubt
pelling would be close with the pacers
-

Exactly
With ake and Jimmy takter being light-years ahead how can these big money swedes go anywhere else
-
I noticed Courant only purchased 4
Wayyyyy down from his prior numbers
Poor guy has soo much money he let's his feelings get in the way.
Otherwise he'd be long gone
-
Isn’t it a little late to bring out those expensive babies or are they being sold to raise capital for Harrisburg shortly??
