After stealing the 4th race by keeping Takter's horse locked in he said he almost messed up. He wanted to give the horse blocked a chance to get 2nd, and he almost beat him. Why is he worried about the horse in the pocket? Could it be that he drives for Takter? That is such a bad look.

Wouldn't want fancy Nancy cutting him off

Gingras kept the rail closed off, and it wasn't until the 5 backed up, the 2 got out and just missed winning. Perfect drive.
Was there a post race interview he said it, where, because the 8 min video of the replay didn't contain it?
It'd be great if they were micd up out there. Mohawk did it with selected races you can watch on youtube and stopped lot's of crazy shit being said before during and after the race.
Here's one of them:

Yes he said it in the paddock when interviewed by Edison Hatter. Gingras waited to open up because he knew it would give Takter's horse the room. It was a great drive no doubt, but he did say that, which is not good.

Good work. I just emailed Jeff Gural this (below), stay tuned:
Hello Mr. Gural,
13 years later, glad we're all here!
Nice work with the Big M, congratulations.
After the 4th race tonight, 4/21/23, did Yannick Gingras have a conversation with Mr. Edison Hatter in the paddock, in which he said (paraphrase) he almost messed up - regarding he wanted to give the horse blocked in the stretch (the 2, Fonseca / Takter) a chance to get 2nd?
I didn't see the interview, it was told to me, but if true, controversial at the least. Can you please advise me?
Thank you,
Paul

No doubt, agree. Last race at BigM 12th, 10 horse from last, just missed.
You give that dude a horse that is ready, while he does make decisions (do or die) on the fly, he follows through. He's tactical, chess like brain. Balanced and smart in the bike.
On 4/10 with This Is The Plan, he made that last second decision to not leave, horse complied despite wanting to zing from outside, next week (5th start off lay off) w2w from same outside spot. Now he's in the Borgata final with other racing luck. tmbz1

You can't be serious. Dunn is in another time zone and drives circles around Yannick every day of the week and twice on Sundays. You would actually take Yannick over Dexter with hundreds of thousands on the line ngc3 ngc3 ngc3

This is a winter sampling of M1 overnights..... the game is about purse earnings on a yearly basis where the real money is May through October.
Last three years total purses earned Dunn 39.3 million Gingras 33.0 million. As I said Dunn is on another planet and has now won the Dan Patch Driver of the Year three straight years. Everybody wants Dunn to drive for them when the money is down, Burke wants Gingras when the money is down.
-
Dunn has had a very average year so far. Many races he shows no interest at all. That will change when he gets all the loaded stakes horses though.

I did my part which is I took your speculation and interpretation, and with complete respect & trust for you and my other brothers and sisters here, all members went on a crusade on your say so.
Went right to the top of the food chain, whom if Gingras said it, the dude can make the shit hit the fan for him.
Drivers are slippery suckers I get it.
Produce the recording, go find it, contact the track, get a link, so we can all hear it...in the meantime without calling another person ***a someone with controversial interest other than winning a race which he did*** we all entertained you including a billionaire track owner in REAL TIME - pleeeease stfu. ;D
Peace & <3

Gingras would have had Stonebridge reef on the lead before turn 1 last night. Dunn can be strangely bad off the gate. That one was a good example last night.

I've never understood the drivers desire to give more info than necessary in those interviews. IE Joe B. Last year talking about taking it easy on his drive to save for the final. It's a bad look. I've done a few of those after race interviews and before I spill anything from my mouth I think - is this something I'm ok with the judges, trainer and betting public hearing. It's just fluff, keep it simple and light. There are a lot of instigators out there. It's easy for them to twist and rephrase your words to fit their agenda.
YG has been around a long time and he's smart. Not sure what he was thinking

A+ history lesson, and perspective from an insider, thank you. If I remember correctly, young Joe B, was taken off of the rest of his drives that day, to quell the taken it easy drama. tmbz1
Instead of a lynch mob for unfounded shit like this, we need an AMA when stuff like this comes up. Drivers on heavy favorites, bad seemingly rides, stuff like that too - Ask Me Anything, and we will. These members here plugged away at Casie Coleman Herlihy pretty good when given the chance. She showed up for her lynch mob though wasn't an AMA invite lol. ;D
-
Unfounded? He said it,lol!! Geez, what more do you need? I personally don't care about this, my point to this is, he finally said what most of us thinks goes on. I don't care if nothing happens to him, it was obviously a slip of the tongue. Almost like he forgot he was talking on a live microphone and he was talking to the other drivers.

Go fetch the interview recording, your thread....do your due diligence....so we can hear it and judge for ourselves, and if I believe what you said, I'll come right back over the top at Jeff Gural, and will cc the top harness sportswriters in the land therein. tmbz1

I haven't been able to find it, but Gural told you he did actually say it. Usually Edison Hatter posts those interviews but for some reason, he did not last night.

Yes apparantly with varying opinions of those that heard it, it's up to listener interpretation, it's context and what it meant of what YG was trying to convey. I'd sooner ask Gural to get me a hot dog from the grandstand, ok, than produce the recording. I preserve relationships for things that matter with bosses, top level shit.
Call the track, ask for public relations / media and ask them for it. It's your very popular, controversial thread here. tmbz1
-
AMA. I will answer what I can. I'm at the tail end of my career, thankfully, because I'm not sure where all this is heading. Public perception is in the crapper and rightfully so. This isn't the 1970's. There are a lot of new ways to throw your money away now.

For someone who hasn't thrown a name up, Who's your guy then?
Gingras, there is more to him than what you see in the bike which is already great, it's tactical decisions off the track.
So which driver are you suckin' off......we're waiting! ;D

I know that, and I knew then, I don't try to be clever, and quippy with an inside joke / insult getting my material from the Urban Dick-tionary, and then snicker to myself, like I'm the smartest one in the room in my own brain - like you!
If you try, you won't have to counterfeit other peoples jokes......and snivel like a rat because no one understands but practically you.....and you can continue to be an UN-creative, arrogant douche.
Either way we're "brothers" under "one Horseplop roof", make up your mind quickly because SCHOOLS OUT, and I'm not in the mood for a "sibling" counseling session.
The enemy as I see it, is outside this forum. ;D

"78 years old", I guess I was right about myself, what I don't know could fill a universe of libraries lol. I have the utmost respect for those that built this country, appreciation and gratitude to you.
In my 50's but I was raised by my grandparents, and my grandfather turned me on to racing. I could play remember when with you all day and night about Yonkers & Roosevelt at least from the early 80's on. It was like yesterday to me when DORUNRUN BLUEGRASS showed up at Roosevelt, and that song played all night too, had a score that night. And not just horseman, and horses but the characters that showed up at the track every-night at Yonkers. The flamboyant guy with the long blonde wig in the downstairs bar, the friendless Spanish guy up the escalator on the second tier who would buy beers for everyone and just bet a $20 cold number every race.
When Mikey Lachance after being tossed and landed at the BigM because of that 714 Bauer triple (and more) at the BigY, came back to Yonkers a year or so later and won a big race, when he came out to the grandstand to be interviewed security had to restrain me when I got in his face during an interview lmao and he turned pale.
See ya'.. tmbz1
P.s. If you write or contribute to the - then and now harness book, I'll buy it and read it!
-
I remember when Mike first came to New York and the driving colony ran him all over the track and he had to leave and go to Liberty Bell and Brandywine and then came back with a powerhouse stable. Then they played nice with him and started working with him.
-
They had "no choice" to play nice with Lachance, it was play nice or I'll destroy your career. His talent surfaced quickly going back to Blue Bonnets in Montreal. Very sharp all around horseman not just as a driver.

I'm in sheer amazement when I hear stuff like this, and know that much of it pre-dates the internet, and if an archive article, video gets thoughtfully posted it's a crumb of insight of what resides in your memory which paints an accurate COMPLETE timeline and tale. Great job, it's times like this I go pull up and read yours and others posts herein to see what else I can learn.
And there is plenty of stuff we try to forget too LOL, but as George Santayana circa 1905 said - "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." Who wants to be an ignorant fucker anyway, they're often happy people! ;D

I am 77, raced Yonkers and Roosevelt in the late 60-70's. I lived in Old Brookville L.I. and was 10 minutes from the track. I had several nice horse, claimers, and made a living sitting behind Fast Gun with either Matucci or Santa Maria driving, I can't remember. Golden Hands also drove for me as well as Cobb, and Poppy, never Carmine or LaChance. I always got 6 or 7 to one beating them on 3/5s that shouldda' been 7-1. Sorry Lance, I haven't known you long enough to disclose my innermost secrets. Also I did write a book called "The Exacta" about the Moonstone Bay, Mr. Ace fiasco. The rights were bought out. An offer I couldn't refuse.

Unfortunately, the book was not bought out for publication, but rather for the opposite reason. That night some 50ish years ago is remembered as the night they lit up Yonkers. Some $15,000 worth tickets on the exacta were never cashed. Several people were murdered in the aftermath.

When a 13-1 bet down and a no figure 7-1 finish 1,2, with a 3-5 in the race and the exacta comes back $28 and change, I'm certain you can draw your own conclusion although "those guys" would probably know. tmbz1 tmbz1
PS There is a court transcript somewhere on the net.

I never ran with those dudes, but they were always part of my life either from friends, proximity, the gambling link or chance.
The neighborhood I grew up in (Pelham Bay in the Bronx) there was the Corleone Club, which they changed to the Ogiglio Club. All my life I was around gamblers and insiders. Eventually I moved to Rockland County, ok suburbs, just got married in my early twenties and rented a house in West Havestraw, well the upstairs, the downstairs was a social club. Ya know..... ;D
