For owners and trainers it could be the purse. When and where?
For bettors, the single biggest ticket cashed or culmination of races.
Looking forward to reading some of these tmbz1
Try to recall as much as possible about the race.

Our ownership group won a PA all Stars race many years ago. It was the only $100,000+ race we ever finished 1st in.
Still have the winner's circle photo somewhere. I believe it was 1997; I'll have to verify via the photo.

I'll bet this was in the pre Howard Taylor days. Was Abe Basen part of your group? Did you compete against him? Great owner, and a tremendous gambler too!

i shoed a hambo winner years ago

$800 pick 4 for .50 a few years back, always kicked kicked myself for not betting at least a dollar as it was a very short ticket (16 or 24 bucks).
-
Back to back 2 yo colt sires stakes. First one in Ohio then his next race he won in KY. Then he got sick right before the KY championship and never came back right from it. That's horseracing.

JOHN FRANK ARMY feels like runnin the board for a brief period,so here go.
I'll start by sayin I do not invest alot bettin.
(1) It a sloppy track and alot of scratches. IT at ARLINGTON PARK afew years back. I days to meself you really want to attend today. Long walk to entrance and JOHN FRANK ARMY never in life hid under umbrella. That for FAGS. So'S I make a $12.00 bet on PIC six. It be a $1.00 bet. I played 3 singles and 2 races with 2 apiece and one with 3. Had the only ticket for $23,000.
I like playin 6's and place alls. But I only invest at most $16.00
(2) Place ALLS. You need to understand. In CALIFORNIA. You only play when they 8 races and a carryover in PIC 6. PEOPLES playin pic 6. I've hit quite a few. Had to split on many. Anywhere from $3000.00 to $11,000. But me biggest was $17,000 split only 2. JUlie KRONE the rider as I signaled in 8th and she won. That a $16.00 bet.
(3) Won PIC 6's at AQUADUCT. LARGEST $6800.00. Again a split with a $16.00 bet.
PLAYED PLACE ALLS at ARLINGTON and HAWTHORNE again cashin from $2,000 to $3,000 again on $16.00 bets.
(4) I've had a couple hard losses. One at ARLINGTON before simulcastin. The pool on pic 8 only for illinois was $186,000. Me and a bud invest $48.00. We got the first 7. We had the heavy chalk on grass in last leg. GUIDRY mount. He 3-5 and next closest in 12 horse field 9-1. GUIDRY stiffed big time. We did get $4300.00 for 7. Next day GUIDRY off mounts and found out his AGENT had the only winnin ticket. Guigry left town for parts unknown. Everyone worried. NOT me of course. Found the fuc in some small town in KENTUCKY all DRUGGED and DRUNK up 7 weeks later. WHAT A RIP.
Me and ANDREA head to BALMORAL to spend a weekend. It TB'S at night. She bets names. $2.00 her bet. She bets a horse called RICHARD B. The name of her brother-in-law. I'ss got $20.00 on some nag. I looks up and sees this pony is 99-1 off the board. It went off at 178 -1 the longest in BALMORAL history. She very happy and wants to cash her own ticket. Now she likes another horse in next race,it called KITTY SPRY. She like cats. She hits at 29-1.
So's 2 weeks later,I heads to MAYWOOD. BALMORAL got a $146,000 carryover on pic 8. KITTY SPRY runnin in 7th leg of sequince. She say's make sure you put in. I don't. played a $32.00 ticket caught 7 of 8 for $1600 hundred. KITTY won the 7th and for $48.00 could have pulled down everythin. Would have had the only ticket as pool carried over. I won't tell ya what ANDREA said when I told her.
Sorry for long EXPOSE.

My biggest score came at Pompano last February. I hit the pick 5, it was a pool shot, for a little over 20k. I singled the wrong horse in the last leg, and the horse I singled beat the horse I meant to single right at the wire at I think it was 59/1. Craziest thing ever, better to be lucky than good.

Hoosier park as a better . Hit .10 super and .50 triple the payoff totaled $3200
Bet cost $2.40 for super box and $12 for triple boxed 7-1-3-5 . 7 was longest driven by Trace best part NO Taxes 😎
Hit a triple boxed at Pocono years ago 7-9-1-3 for $1600 9 was 90/1 missed by a nose sweet rock driver was Brandon givens probably one of his last drives hope he’s doing well. Marcus Miller drove the 7 glad I boxed it because I loved the 3 had him WPS 😂 that was a signer at the time.

About 5 years ago a group of us would visit Tioga about once a month and pool our money into the Pick 4 at the Meadowlands. It was a great time as our wives and GF would chat and us men would handicap. First race winner, 2nd race winner, 3rd race winner. Now we have 2 horses live and we are yelling and screaming at the TV. One horse 10K the other horse 8K. I would put the ticket together based on others selection and gave the ticket to someone in the group to hold. Well the 8K horse won and the guy lost the ticket. We froze the ticket at the mutuel window in case someone tried to cash it. To this day we haven’t gotten the group together.

back in the day hit the twin triactor at windsor 246,000 split 6 ways we had a lot of helpers too lol great times

Some of best scores :
I was 9 or 10 yrs old and we were at Mohawk and my dad was having a good nite so he said to pick 3 horses in the last race n he would box them and listen to the results on the way home on cfrb 1010. He must've laughed when he saw who we picked by fave drivers. Well if if didnt come in and pay $15k which we split 3 ways.
Meadowlands $5 pk4
Keyed Muscles Marinara who was like 3/5 then hit decent price shots middle legs and I recall Campbell skimming the cones to get up at 8-1 and hit for 20k.
Mohawk
Hussy Chaser
Solid 10-12k claimer who would flip his heart. I heard he had gone to Guelph to get recalibrated. Odd thing was I saw Phil Hudon take him out to warm up and he had fairly full nite of drives n he scored him pretty good up the back side. I bet pretty good on him had a $100 ex and $30 tri got back close to 25k. Funny thing was they have a hawk at Mohawk to see who is cashing and he followed me around the whole night like I was getting inside info or something.
BigM Pace Night Hit the survivor pool split with one other paid 10k.
Pk7 at Mohawk Guaranteed 10k pool . Pool had just been hit so not much money went in following night looked like a lot of 2 horse races or key didnt spend much got the pool shot for $10k.
But my fave hit/bad beat was a horse of Pat Lachances Its Not luck? I think was following him at the Bigm and 6 weeks in a row he did his patented blind switch full of pace but finish 4th 5thh 6th. Came up to Mohawk same thing first week. Next week I happened to be up in charters room and Frank Salive came out of booth and casually asked who I liked I said Pats goin to the front and takin no prisoners tonite. Went off at 15-1 and jogged . Cashed for around 15k but me being a dumbass left the 10 horse off ticket for 3rd used every one but him and the tri paid $7k. I have bet a $20 tri keyin Pat with another horse 2nd n 3rd n it was Jo Pas Benchmark who sat last all the way and everyone vacated the pylons n he got up for 3rd.
Had some showpool bonanzas like when Devilfish went offstride midstretch at BigM. Andover Hall breaking in Hambo.

Back in the 90's I keyed Colonel Schneider Jr's horse for 1st in the trifecta. Horse finished 3rd but there were no tickets sold on the winning combo. At that time Ontario paid out on the top 3 finishers in any order. Scooped the whole pool for $3400 then claimed a horse the next week with the winnings & she made $9000 in her first 4 starts. Haven't cashed a ticket since!

It's been quite a while, but a long time ago I owned some Indiana Sires Stakes leg winners (two of them are now broodmares for me), and once won the aged Sires Stake with a gelding who just died at almost 30 years of age here on my farm. His surprise win was probably my biggest race.
Those days are now long gone, as Indiana Sired horses have become so much better.
And we haven't figured out how to help our horses pick up three seconds, while all the horses I sell seem to do that almost immediately.

even though it was non betting and no purse was involved my first time winning and getting a blanket at Goshen is my biggest win in my mind .. 😂
-
My biggest win was being in a pileup on the track and laying there face up not being able to breathe or move and watching hooves and wheels pass inches from my face. Just a few inches the other way and it would have been lights out.

Better yet First start back with an $8000 claimer, Mac's Grandstander, In for $10,000 , first time Tony Morgan with the Cheetah bike, BOOOOOM, $37.80 , won by 4 and looking for more at HAWTHORNE. Trainer, SCOTT NANCE. GOT IT ALL.

I had a 30-1 shot beat a Teague horse at the wire at 1-9. A lot of disappointed faces on the locals. ngc3
