The sale prices for babies has gone through the roof. He would like to buy at the lower end. Spend up to $30,000. Never see him spend $100,000. The $15 -$20,000 horses nobody really wants. That was his price point. Probably smart to change his business plan.

Consider it an investment.  You'll get paid back 10 fold.

certainly upped the budget at the sales in 2021 but as a few have said  you had no choice if you wanted anything with decent pedigree and confirmation
bought a bunch in the $30-$60 k range
bought about 60 overall
some will hit for sure
trick is buying the ones that do and avoiding the other 50 or so
always a tough game

THE MOVEMENT OF THESE FOLKS IS COMMENDABLE.  THIS IS SIMILAR TO THE MOVEMENT LED BY LOU GUIDA IN THE 1970S AND 1980S.   AS YOU MAY NOT KNOW MR. GUIDA WENT TO WALL STREET AND PERSONALLY CHANGED THE BUSINESS AND HOW THE BUSINESS WAS RUN ON A DAILY BASIS.  MIDLANTIC BANK BEGAN TO FINANCE HORSES JUST LIKE HOMES----ALMAHURST FARM PARTNERED WITH MERRILL LYNCH---JOHN SIGNORELLI TOOK STANDARDBRED TROTTERS AND PACERS PUBLIC---HORSES LIKE NIATROSS--SONSAM ----IN THE POCKET---NIHILATOR AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON WERE SYNDICATED BY MR. GUIDA!!!  VERY FEW INVESTORS EVER RECEIVED ANY RETURN ON THEIR INVESTMENTS BUT HAD LOTS OF FUN AND IT WAS A FUN ERA IN THIS INDUSTRY.

THIS NEW GROUPD HAS DONE A GREAT JOB INTRODUCING NEW PEOPLE TO THE SPORT.   MOST WILL NEVER SEE A RETURN BUT THEY ARE HAVING FUN.  THERE IS SO MUCH MONEY OUT THERE THAT THIS DOES NOT DENT THE AVAILABLE FUNDS FOR ENTERTAINMENT.

I WOULD CAUTION THESE PROGRAMS AS THE SEC MAY GET INVOLVED IF THIS GROWS TOO BIG AND IS UNREGULATED.  I WOULD RECOMMEND ANYONE DOING THESE TYPES OF DEALS TO HAVE THEIR COUNSEL OR A SEC EXPERIENCED COUNSEL HELP CONSTRUCT THE PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENTS / CONTRACTS.   I AM NOT SURE HOW THESE ARE STRUCTURED BUT I WOULD GUESS THES FOLKS HAVE GREAT COUNSEL IN ORDER TO GET WHERE THEY ARE TODAY.

EITHER WAY---THERE IS UNLIMITED FUNDS OUT THERE FOR THIS!!!!  WE DID MILIONS AND MILLIONS IN THE OLD DAYS AND DID NOT SCRATCH THE SURFACE----THERE IS UNLIMITED FUNDS TODAY !!!

THE TAX BENEFITS ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD WITH SECTION 179 DEDUCTIONS !!!!

TIC BANK BEGAN TO FINANCE HORSES JUST LIKE HOMES----ALMAHURST FARM PARTNERED WITH MERRILL LYNCH---  VERY FEW INVESTORS EVER RECEIVED ANY RETURN ON THEIR INVESTMENTS BUT HAD LOTS OF FUN AND IT WAS A FUN ERA IN THIS INDUSTRY.

Jack Baugh used his position as head of the USTA to CONvince investors of the well ness of their investment.
Most horses he bought for the partnerships in were fillies, and had Almahurst in their names.
Few ever covered their cost.....and many were then sold to the next partnership as "prospective great brood mares"
My uncle did not have ANY fun in both these partnerships..and lost over $ 300,000.     Only Baugh and the guys who trained these colts and fillies made the money.  From your knowledge , I would say you were the legal hand that registered the partnerships. My uncle , now deceased, was considering legal action against Baugh..........bu t could find no others who wanted to step up and take on Baugh.

I was like so many others and was in fact an investor in many of these programs and so many more.  I truly do not think I was ever paid 1 penny in return.  Never.   Many of this was bank loans and without a return the investors would have to repay the loans out of their own funds.   These folks had accountants and did some tax returns that created tax write offs for the investors.

All the deals that I saw required a net worth in excess of $1 million dollars and net income in excess of $200,000 per year.  Please recall in the 1970's and 1980's that was a whole lot of money in todays dollars!!!

If you were an investor in the programs that I participated in as an investor and completed the docs legally and truthfully---it was an investment that disclosed very high risk and that is why I was never shocked that nothing was ever paid back!!!

We sure had lots of fun and hopium!!!!

Looks like a massive overpayment for a horse you’re hoping wins you a good cup & saucer going for 60k Canadian (which A Mac will overdrive & lose with)

its  likely a touch to soon to determine the value versus price paid
lets see where he stands at the end of the year

It is very comical to watch the show these idiots put on at Northfield and the Ohio fairs all summer. Anthoney should just stay in Canada and let our Ohio drivers steer these things, him driving is not in the best interest of all them fractional owners!

Not sure what rock you were under last year in Ohio, but Anthony and the stable had a very good year.  Sounds like sour grapes and maybe a lot of jealously.

i guess we need to define"successful" and this logic applies to any stables/horses
for example how did the horse(s) finish up the year, were they better than they were during the early or middle of the year
what did they earn or better yet what did they net out at the end of the season and who made money??
of course you cannot and should not judge a horse based on solely  on their 2 yr old season
i guess if you paid $20 k for a horse and it made $35 k in earnings as a 2 yr old you might consider that a moderately successful foray
